Totally relate with the songwriting struggles. I've been noting down a few song ideas (music, not words) I like recently, but am neither a singer nor a lyricist.
I can't be arsed looking for people who'll fit in, managing time, bouncing ideas back and forth, but still want to enjoy that feeling of having done something so it's been slowly simmering for a while that I want to do a little EP for myself, just to show myself I can
I will most likely never release it, but I'm keen to embrace enjoying the process with neither pressure nor expectation. I really hope I can get round to doing it, but I will need to strike a balance between not putting (time) pressure on myself and still having enough of a deadline to get shit done, while juggling work, a return to cycling and a baby. We'll see!
In other news, thanks all for pushing me towards monel strings for my acoustic, really been enjoying the tone and, having gone down to light gauge, been enjoying the ease of playing on them. A little truss rod adjustment went a long way to making it really enjoyable to play!
Figured it'd be a good time to experiment a bit with recording and putting one of my ribbon mics to use - the ribbon is very noisy and the playing is pretty shoddy but I'm pleased with the sound considering I hardly did any further experimenting with mic positioning and post production: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jEYdzBBJQzpsifyWSTlMJdPjBhJoVPu9/view?usp=sharing
