  • I'll try one of those. Thanks!

  • I had a rattling Exposure Toro, sent it back to Exposure and from memory they replaced a foam lining inside the light which had degraded over time.

  • Can't say exactly but I've done, say, 6/7 hours with it on going between low/medium and it was fine.
Battery is a universal style and you can easily buy spares on amazon/ebay for basically unlimited burn time.
The battery can stighly rattle inside but I just put a couple strips of electric tape on the inside and it hasn't been an issue again!
    Genuinely quite a good product.

  • How quick are USE getting stuff back to you? And what’s their repair charges like?
My older Diablo has the charge light go green but it’s dead apart from a flash if I’m lucky. Presume the battery needs replacing?

  • Turn around is usually a week or so. Charges are reasonable, i.e. £20 quid to replace a charging port, including postage.

  • @IdealStandard I've used one for a few audaxs instead of my dynamo setup. Used it on LEL as well and took 4 spare batteries. Worked great.

If you're gonna buy spare 21700 get decent ones, like from https://www.torchy.co.uk/product-category/21700-batteries/ (targeted towards vape users now)

  • Thanks, best get it sent off to USE then, motivation/time for riding is sporadic and I’m keen to pop out for an early evening hour on the fixed soon.
It’s been in the loft for 10 years!

  • Drop them an email, they gave me a pre-quote of £52.00 (parts, labour, return postage) for new batteries in a 7 year old Strada.

  • Was about to but the light seems to have woken up, two quick presses of the button to turn on but then it goes off soon after so presume the battery is near empty but a long press and release which should make it go into program mode doesn’t work. the charger was showing green along with the light which is obviously not correct but now it’s red (charger) flashing green (light) so will give it a full charge and test it.
    It wasn’t charging before??
could do with a new battery either way as it’s quite old as the mk7 is from 2016.

Edit: yes it’s not well, will only come on for a few seconds so off it goes.

  • I've pulled the trigger. Good heads up on extra batteries

  • A friend has a Sirius and TraceR in for service and at the minute. They want £31 for the Sirius (battery & switch) and £30 for the TraceR (replacing the unit as a new PCB and battery would be more expensive). It's been about 3 weeks since he sent them in.

Ooo, for £30 each, might send in a very old and now dead Trace and TraceR..

  • I'm not sure how they work out the prices though because last year I paid £15 and got a new Trace.

Now that's a bargain, perhaps they only have the latest Mk3 lights with USB-C in stock now(?).

They've also just quoted me £30 for a custom length smart port switch which seems pretty reasonable. They also told me the exact wire to buy if I wanted to do it myself, great company.

  • £44 inc vat and return postage for a likely battery replacement, hopefully that’s it.
quite happy to pay and get another 8 years out of a compact and bright light.
didn’t realise it was originally marketed as a mtb head light, i just use it on the road with a cabled red-eye rear

  • It's been about 3 weeks since he sent them in.

    They do sound busy...

You will likely hear from us late next week or early the following week with our findings.

  • I got a Lumintop B01 of Aliexpress and has been perfect for overnight audax and nighttime offroad riding. Very long battery life and replaceable batteries too.

Has a cutoff beam so it doesn't startle drivers... for whatever that is worth

ditto - was about to recommend

  • One of the forum ultra people recommends them, too. Frank?

Correct - just did again! Excellent light.

I once had a Strada and it is much better than that. Maybe mine was defective as most people seem to like them but I thought it was quite poor: scattered a lot of light to the sides but couldn't see up the road when it was on mid level.

  • Do you use the supplied mount or something else?

  • Bought a second hand exposure strada mk10 sb recently. It did great on dark country roads, and I like the wired remote to cycle through a few options.

Some difficulties charging it with one powerbank, but my other powerbank worked so took that one with me on a 9 day trip.

For my next light I'm going to look for something with a more focussed beam

  • Yes, they're pretty good, no? I bought a load more on AliE so can move between bikes.

  • My moon Meteor front light is on its way out (short battery life) - what's a the current go-to cheapish front light with long battery life, decent brightness and a good mount, or do I just get the same again...

  • Lumintop?
    I've just bought another one.

Or if you want a really cheap option, I usually have a few of these knocking around as spares. They're actually decent lights, shaped beam, etc.

  • Did think this but it's not much cheaper than replacing, and think I had trouble opening it last time I tried...
