I guess it's either when they're still using the bike. Or when they want to crack on with the sale but are still waiting for the penetrating oil to work it's magic on the right hand pedal threads.
But I know what you mean. Unless you're taking about pedals/saddle where it's reasonable to want to market the bike with an image that makes it look normal, while acknowledging most people will be changing those components.

50% of the AQA thread
That's unfair.
It's ime it's mainly people calling on other people's experience and knowledge particularly on questions with more than one answer.
Although there are a lot of component compatibility questions.

When I first started cycling as an adult, I was shocked to see £3000+ bikes being sold without pedals, it made no sense to me.
Then I learned the multitude of pedal options and preferences. -

People that moan about the cost of other peoples things.
I rode my Standert fixed to work the other day and got the regular “that’s posh, it must have cost a bomb”from a colleague all the while they were sat in their BMW M5. I also get the same sort of thing from someone else about the amount of bikes I own and how it must cost a fortune, they drive a RangeRover E-twat tonka toy. Conversely I sometimes ride with a friend that has a wobbly BSO “racer” he wears a Rolex most of the time. Choices people, choices. We all chose the things we spend our money on. I don’t get money cars or watches. -

With you 100% on this.

Yep this is pretty much it.
I’m pretty tight with my money but sometimes you gotta get the right thing and it costs…for me those things aren’t generally what other people spaff their money on, neither are they generally as expensive

Websites where you are reading the article/recipe/whatever and it gets to the 'read more' button and you click it and it reloads the whole website, takes you back to the beginning of the article, starts all the ads again. Reddit used to be terrible for it but seems to have sorted it

I remember a sketch he did once years ago (he had a show on TV?). He was a newsagent with a young lad buying cigarettes and Rizla together.
He asked the lad why he wanted rolling papers as well as cigarettes, and the lad replied that he took the cigarettes apart and re-made them with the Rizla as a bit of a hobby.
"Well if you're going to go to all that trouble you may as well roll a joint"
I think that's the height of his career for me

Likewise, websites that give you a great long list of products mostly unrelated to your search entry. When you eventually find something like you’re looking for, open its page then go back to check for more choice, it takes you back to the start of the (mostly irrelevant) list.
I can forgive this on minor traders who don’t spend the dosh on web browser platforms but there’s no excuse for national retail chains. -

He's really an improv performer, not a stand-up. Whether he's any good at that isn't something really tested over here (they take it a lot more seriously in the U.S. and Canada). So we mostly see him being lazy on panel shows. Even he got bored of himself on HIGNFY.

Enigma machines aren't that complicated, it is breaking the encryption that was difficult.

More complicated than our chuffing gate latch.

That's one way of not getting him, certainly.

Instagram.
I used to use it to share photos of wildlife and follow lots of wildlife photographers. Now it seems entirely full of girls making videos of themselves miming to clips from films or miming songs. I'm assuming lots of people watch them, but not sure why.

That’s aged beef
I read that as someone asking for a recommendation for a local plumber, rather than just the number for any random local plumber that may be a cowboy?
But, yes, many times people are just bored and just want to start some kind of a conversation.
