That is a good deal but I still think the lenco idler for £30 is a myth.

It's the one with a heavy platter!

Have a Denon TU260L II digital tuner for sale, it’s been on a shelf in my late fathers workroom but has never been plugged in, not sure why he bought it as he dabbled in short wave radio and had a lot of expensive kit but had no interest in FM or music. plugged it in and all the dials and buttons work and it locks on to signals without an antenna (i am right next to a radio transmitter)
fascia is clean and unmolested, any marks are just dust. there are some light marks on the top including a visible one at the back rear right.
these were the go-to separates tuner to go with your NAD, pioneer or Arcam amp.
(thought there was a Pioneer a300 amp but couldn’t find that)
£20 collected in SE19, slight chance of Brompton delivery by hand if you are not far away.

Got my new shop’s system installed now. I bought an entirely over-extravagant amplifier when an eBay alert coincided with a stressful moment and here we are. It’s nice though.
Hoping to open in January and start album listening sessions shortly after.
Please excuse the soaped out windows.

Very nice - work probably doesn't feel like work anymore ...

I hope you have a no kids policy 😅
Just picturing what the ones at the cafe I work at would do with all that

Looks awesome, would be perfect if it had a budget tuner that outperforms those at twice the price playing some R3 grand orchestral works
Man maths suggests that you save money on the heating bill using those amps so it’s a money saving purchase.

That’s always the aim.

Yeah I know. Mainly that gear will be disconnected. I’ll put a strap round the dust over of the turntable and the grilles back on the speakers. There’ll be my nice Yamaha solid state and Fiio R7 streamer behind the counter running the speakers day to day. I’m confident parents will tell kids not to touch the amps, they’ll have the cages on over the valves when not in use.

I don’t want to go as far as saying you’ve got a problem, but that’s a lot of KT66 valves for one person to own 😀
What are the amps and specs?

Perfect! R3 has amazing sq doesn’t it? Shame I never listen to classical :(

KT88s in these ones. They’re Kora Cosmos power amps, 100wpc class a (!) triode. The matching pre-amp is valve state too, I haven’t opened it up to see what the valves are. It also has an outboard power supply. The phono stage is a kit build (not by me, obvs) PH15 valve state job with Sovtech valves and a pair of 9v batteries for something or other. I don’t know what spec the valves are.
I have owned a Kora Jupiter stereo power amp for a few years and it’s absolutely perfect, I’ll never part with it. I took a punt on it second hand having never heard of it and with no info about it anywhere. I had a saved search for the matching preamp which came up the other weekend. The seller also had the monoblock power amps so I had to go for the set. He did a good deal for the package.

Blimey! I said KT66s because they’re normally that tapered shape and KT88s are normally more of a Coke can shape (and size). I’d definitely be up for a forum listening party (and put me down for coffee tasting) if you’d be up for hosting one.
Your 9V batteries are probably for a non transformer-based biasing. It’s an old way of doing it but I’m guessing low noise and probably means you don’t need to use diodes or LEDs to get a simpler but more stable bias voltage.

It would be lovely to have everyone here for coffee and records. Might have booze too if I can get the paperwork done for licensing.
Thanks for the explanation about the batteries. I like listening to this equipment and it annoys me that I can’t understand the technicalities, I watch YouTube videos about people mending electronics all the time but I still can’t get a handle on how this stuff works.

Ok, they aren’t KT88s. They’re 6AS7s which are low impedance twin triode power output valves, so two chunky output triodes in each valve. The KT88 is different. KT88 is a very big single beam tetrode (very similar to a pentode). All 8 of your 6AS7s are probably in parallel, so all 16 output triodes are in parallel and that’s probably why there isn’t a giant output transformer on your amplifier like there normally would be.
It’s an interesting valve. 100-200W from a valve amp would normally use 4x KT88s in class AB push-pull, but it would also need an HT voltage near 700V. Yours is just loads of output triodes stacked in parallel and only needs around 250V so it looks like it might not even have a power transformer and just runs directly on rectified mains voltage. I’d love to have a look inside that thing 👍

Awesome. Well feel free to have a poke around if you come to visit.

Just wonderful, would love to hear that.
The space looks echoey - any soft furnishings / treatment in there? -
• #13497
Yeah, as spares or repair.
If you want a cheap, working, idler these days, it’s a Garrard SP25.

There’s 4000kg of green coffee in sacks as of this afternoon, that does a pretty good job.

I have an old inherited pair of Ruark Sabre speakers circa 1995 and it’s time to sell on. Other than eBay where might be a good place list them? If there’s any interest here I’d be happy to share more details. No idea what they’re worth. Cabinets have scuffs etc and potentially one tweeter dome dented, I need to unpack them for a closer look. Located in Bath.
A killer deal! (actually sold for £221 - not that cheap :-( ) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235812676296?_skw=lenco+turntable&itmmeta=01JC6MD5ZZ8JRS4NKDPZWEH064&hash=item36e787e2c8:g:WdQAAOSwB4BnJLDW&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmB5Xh1Q9QoblKGrG0UKBHMlGa4c5sf2i8%2BEg6xz7V1F3DroTG7efQW4UzMcvbKympO1gw8F2K%2BRI1F11qOrNrTj%2BH7ONzlJZg82SCUzDtq93jZUkqTEwLseeV4nbS9mwrZrau3urFa2trvOZRCRvCBWkwv2xTOityFGpMC%2Bq4f6a%2FS08LP1PTeDTBdto2LqplR5AfIEeiUu1yy9Uy5WZmNjpBhYMbVZJsMbWfVrj%2F4VCSRyZT4AtxSa0oOvA%2B3gLR7RqoHtFwe7YcO%2B650r0PuDLuSal4jGgToRXKnP%2FlnmA%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR5LgtNThZA
