It looks like I might be buying a crappy e-bike. I'd want to change the tyres immediately. What's worth looking at in roughly 700x45c for a ~20kg e-bike with a 60kg rider and 10-15kg worth of crap? Puncture protection and grip are the priorities, speed and ride quality would be nice but I guess I can't have it all. Continental Contact? Marathons? The cheaper the better really!

To be honest all tyre prices seem to have gone up lately (or were deceitfully low previously)

I'll take you up on that I reckon! Thanks.
I can't seem to tag you .ben, thanks for the offer but I got my sizing mixed up and reckon a 40c is a better bet.

Hey all … any recommendation for 26x2.0 (or slightly slimmer) for mainly road with the odd gravelly section?
Currently on Marathon Supreme 26x2.0, but the very rounded and tread free ‘shoulders’ don’t inspire confidence cornering on the rough stuff when damp.
I’ve used René Herse tyres and liked the file tread, but had bad experience puncture-wise on autumn country roads. I know there is an endurance casing, but there seems to be a jump from 1.8” to 2.3” for those.
Looking back I can see Vittoria revolution mentioned in 26.2.0… though pretty heavy? -

Continental Contact Urban - very good wet grip and comes in 26x2.0 and 26x1.75

Thank you, will look at these!

A Schwalbe Billy Bonkers could work if you were able to size up a bit to 2.1". Also they're cheap:

Panaracer make the Gravelking Semi Slick in 30mm, not many options out there in that size for tyres that wouldn't mind some gentle gravel but that's one.

I've run schwalbe duranos in 28c over lots of unsuitable terrain on trails and on road over many winters and they have been excellent. They have been rebranded as the One Plus which come in 30c now, which I started using a couple of weeks ago. So far, they seem as good.

What comes in at 700x30c that's dirt cheap and half decent? A friend of mine has just started getting in to cycling. He has a really low end single speed that came with the shittest 25c tyres I've ever seen and I reckon he'd benefit from an upgrade. He was talking about buying a new bike because the ride is so harsh. Having said that, I think even £50 for a pair is going to be too much for him to want to spend on a pair of tyres.
Is there anything that fits the bill? -

If money is tight then £20 for a pair of these will probably still be a big upgrade from what he has right now:
If he can stretch to £36 then these would definitely be an improvement:
The much higher TPI count with the Rubinos (150tpi instead of 26tpi for the Zaffiro) will definitely make them more comfortable but just the extra volume of the Zaffiros over the current tyres will really help.

27.5 x 2.8 supermoto-x tyres on a 25mm rim, a fiery death won’t be hashed will it?

£36 for a pair of pasela PTs?
32c, which I think in paselas comes up more like a usual 30 -
• #10699
Thanks but he's already gone for a pair of the Zaffiros! I would have suggested the Paselas otherwise. I haven't used them for a a few years but remember them being decent. Also, I'll be fitting the new tyres for him and I can remember managing the Paselas with my thumbs. Both sets of Vittorias I've fitted in the past have been absolute bastards!

Can anyone recommend a good all round road - off road tyre. I've been looking at the Pirelli Cinturato Gravel M TLR which seems good for what I'll need it for which is road and mixed off road.
Anyone else use them?
