I picked one up to see how it worked. I've got the iOS app which the unit pairs with, but it isn't showing the 10kg calibrate button. I've not mounted it to a bike, but am hesitant to do so until I can at least know that the app is capable of doing the calibration.

Nah, strain gauge is a strain gauge. The calibration is essential. You could glue it to a spanner and make a torque wrench if you wanted.

Thanks. Perhaps it needs to detect the 10kg to activate the 10kg Calib button in the app?

In the video they show the button always there, but on my app it is like this

EDIT: Helpful tip in the comments, if you hold down the zero offeset button, it brought up option to activate the calibration mode and the 10kg button appeared. Now to figure out what epoxy to get to try mounting it to an old crankset.

Not the most glamorous of bikes, but the Decathlon Triban 520 disc brake (TRP Hy/Rd) bike (with microshift 2x11 speed) for £599 which seems a lot of bike for the money.
Comes with 32mm Vittoria Randonneur Tech graphene 2.0s, and has clearance for up to 40mm, with plenty of extra mounting points for racks etc.

It's incredible value, for sure. I don't have any experience with that group set, but given it's Shimano it can't be too bad, right?

I got the RC520 version from a couple of years ago with 105 on it. Really good. I've since swapped out the crankset (which was S500 I think) for a 105, got some Arkane wheels on it and changed the finishing kit for Deda and it's all the bike I need.

Upon reading, it looks like it’s a bit of a quirky spec, with 10 speed shifters on an 11 speed rear cassette.
