Like a deleted scene from Half Life

We have the same style. Never had a problem with people not being able to open it, just problems latching it behind them seemingly. Not ideal with a dog who's desperate to explore the local area.

There was one of those latches on the front gate of the house I grew up in. It was shit.
Can't blame folks for not being able to figure it out; it's a somewhat counterintuitive way to employ a suspended ring.

"It's no good, I can't hear you"

Are you telling me you struggled to use it?
-

I mean I get the problem 'all you have to do is xyz' works when it's your thing that you use regularly, if you've never seen a latch like that then at 1st glance it's not really intuitive how it works

It's a fuckin gate latch, not the vault at the bank of England.
If a lift movement doesn't work, try a rotation movement, 10 seconds maximum. -

I mean I agree but almost everyone with those latches has similar stories to op wrt delivery drivers, etc having problems so...

I do a lot of garden work and when possible prefer using side/rear access rather than traipse dirt through the house. I've been stumped by a fair few latches and locks only to feel stupid when shown how it works

Surely delivery drivers of all people should be able to master this through repeated exposure.

People who use social media instead of a search engine to find out simple information. e.g.
"Does anyone know what time the post office on the high street is open?"
You could just put that exact phrase into Google and receive your answer, or find a contact number to get the answer. Instead, you've got to wait for someone to reply, it turn into an argument about how shit the high street is, someone to tell you you should Google it instead, etc.
Is this a symptom of people's addiction to social media? Or are people just thick? -
• #3889
I used to use that a lot, but it took adds another unnecessary step into what should be someone's solo struggle
-
• #3890
Can you find and share an example?

At your own home ?

Even if you have mastered the gate latch there is no guarantee you'll open the gate the right way.

Didn't realise there was an etiquette to opening a gate.
Everydays a school day. -
• #3894
Its nothing to do with etiquette but whether the gate swings in or out .

When people sell stuff and put an advert with a picture and then say xy or z parts aren’t included. Or can supply an x if needed
Just change the bits before you do the advert it’s not that hard surely?
Maybe he couldn't see the gate and just kept bumping into floating latches.
