Dynamo hubs

That's what I thought, but the comments on this article suggest it's not all as it seems:

Merry Sales/Kasai's selling point is "hey look you can fix the hub
without disassembling the whole dang wheel, no unlacing required to
swap out the coil" - that's what they mean by "field serviceable", you
don't have the send the hub back to them to get the coil replaced at
the factory.

The non-power-side bearing is independently replaceable. The
coil/plug/powerside bearing are replaceable as a single unit and the
bearing is not intended to be serviced on it's own.

Someone got over-excited and made some unfounded assumptions when
writing this article.

I've bought but not yet built up so nothing useful to add I'm afraid.

Anyone riding 50ish mm carbon rims with a son hub?

Im about to build a new rando/gravel which will mostly run 38mm tires but also take 47mm and I am intrigues by the latest generation of wide deep carbon rims.

Yes, replaced an SP with a Kaisei and so far nothing bad to say about it. Do research their range of hubs though as not all are “user serviceable” as mentioned above

DT Swiss now offering a SP hub with their stickers and straight pull spokes. I can see the appeal of matching hubs.

Supposedly with upgraded bearings too.
