• Stunning bike.

  • Have you got a frame number?

  • That is absolutely delightful. The fork blades are just 😮‍💨 (PS I'll buy that Arai brake off yah as a backup for our tandem if it's going spare!)

  • Yes, sorry forgot to include that. It’s 2842.

    Cheers!

  • Thank you. It’s a lovely ride with the ‘suspension fork’.
I’ve never had the Arai. I bought the frame set and built it up with the components I had in the stash…

    All the best

  • 2842 was invoiced 7/8/87 to somebody called Wilson, alas that is the only info I have as all the other details in the book are blank. This was clearly a special order, the fork blades are Flying Scot pattern ex of Rattrays, the fillets at the head tube are much smaller than I would normally do however the finish looks original. If you ever have the forks out the number will be a stamped on the steering column. That will confirm that it is indeed one of mine as I doubt any other builder would have fork blades of this pattern let alone use them.
    Sorry, best I can do
    Cheers

  • Morning Dave, did you manage to have a look for 11943 ?

  • Sorry, my order book only goes up to 11550, which is mid 2005. I know I built only a few frames in that period before we closed up shop at Wallsend around that time so it is highly unlikely that I made another 400ish frames. I think I have a file with the last frame order forms that I made at Wallsend in the workshop somewhere but I will have to go and dig for it. All I can say at this point is that I cannot confirm that is one of my numbers.

  • Thanks Dave, I’ll take the forks out tomorrow as the frame number on the bottom bracket shell isn’t that clear - I may have the wrong number!

  • From your picture it looks more like 11343 to me.

  • That’s brilliant. Thanks Dave

    Best regards

  • I think you could be right - I’ll drop the forks out over the weekend to confirm

  • I’ve dropped the forks out & number is 11343

  • Can you confirm type of frame ?

  • No problem Dave, it’s a Wayfarer.

Orange & blue if that helps (looks to be in original paint).

  • Can you confirm type of frame ?

  • Sorry, sent last message twice!!!
11343 is indeed a Wayfarer built 18/01/03 for a customer called Ross. It was sold as a complete bike from our Gosfoth shop

  • Thanks Dave, much appreciated!

  • .

  • No, never did build for Thorn

  • Hi all, Just picked up a Yates frame - wondering if anyone can shed any light on what it is, how old it might be or what its made from? Frame number is DY0920 if you can do anything with that...
