Cheers that's really helpful.

The ebay ones only offer "M8" as a purchase option which I assume is their 5/16". Whereas I think I need 3/8".

You need a thread pitch gauge, you can't reliably tell ⅜" threads from 10mm just by measuring the major diameter, and ⅜" could be 24TPI or 26TPI

Thanks for flagging that.

Looks like I'm going to have to go into the loft to find the thread gauge in my tap set.

Aliexpress has 3/8" but then you're also rolling the dice on the seller's description.
