Back to the Ribble, with a used Icetoolz BB chasing/ facing kit from eBay. I've got enough frames and projects to justify having the tool, I reckon.
I've watched it done enough times and know the theory, but was still a bit nervous. I've heard enough horror stories about people getting it very wrong.
Unlike some BSC cutters, the 'R' and 'L' on the Icetoolz cutters refer to the side they are used on, not the thread direction. I checked and rechecked thread directions, checked and rechecked thread alignment, and used plenty of cutting oil. All went well. Enough gunk and paint came out to make me wonder if the previous owners ever had it done properly.

It's currently just north of Rouen whilst it's new owner chomps on a sad cheese and ham baguette contemplating headsets and cranks

Even though the chasing of the bottom bracket may have gone fine, the threads only go about 10mm deep, far less than any of my bottom brackets. The Icetoolz cutter is fine for chasing, but not for cutting new threads. Off it will go to Geoff Roberts.

Sinc I've lost momentum with the Ribble and Raleigh, I've started playing around with the Rondinella. I had planned a Japanese period build, but now thinking a mix of black and silver might work

Super nice!!
Did you take your frame to the beach to take pictures? -
• #57
You've only just noticed the beach pics throughout lol? I'd guess Lesterama lives on/near the seafront. =)
Really cool frame and paint job.

Yeah, I live on the seafront. The beach makes for better photos than the flat!

Finally some time to play with track bikes again. I took the Rondinella for a quick test ride this morning. It rides so well.
Stem's a touch shorter than I like, so I'll need to see if I have one more suitable. Still a work in progress.

Looking good Brother.

It's been quiet on the track-bike front chez Lesterama. The Rondinella is too shiny and white to ride until next summer. The Ribble has been giving me headaches. So I'm throwing some bits on the Makino. Used parts without being too ratty. Plenty of NJS bits.

First ride, to the fish huts. I'm liking it with silver rims.

Silver never looks bad. another awesome build. The Makino is outstanding but that Rondinella frame colourway and decals just really does it for me.

Sexy seat stays <3
The SBDU frameset has now gone to a new home, with someone tall enough to do it justice. Hopefully we'll see more of it on the forum in its next build.
