My hot take is Silicon Valley was a deciding factor in this election. Elon was vocal but there was a lot of non vocal (and financial) support for Trump this time from Silicon Valley.

Lina Khan's regime at FTC made Bezos et al shat themselves. If America truly hates anything its regulation.

My father is left and liberal. Taught art for 30 years, fought for better education and against illiberal school boards, supported all kinds of students life styles, votes Democrat hopelessly in Idaho. He has been a hunter and fisher all his life, we had guns in the house but he always preferred to hunt with a traditional longbow instead of a rifle. I've just got back from 10 days in a railroad town in SE Idaho, and it was a stark refresher of what right and left mean.

Some of the Trump voters being interviewed said they really didn't like quite a few of his policies, but felt his basic values aligned more with theirs than Harris's did. Even in his core MAGA base, there seem to be a fair number of people who don't care what he says or what his policies are, or even whether or not he delivers on them; they just like his style and hate the same people he hates. Your explanation is simple, but I'm not sure it's overwhelming.

So, only 2 weeks to wait for his criminal sentencing. That'll be fun.

It was over when the last vote was cast, but we didn't have much information about that half a day ago. One of the mechanics in my local bike shop predicted that Trump was going to win because Elon Musk has enough information on paedo blood-drinking elites to blackmail them into not interfering with the election; the result doesn't validate his reasoning.
