  • It's difficult to reconcile those splits in general with majority of groups being Harris voters but the majority of votes being Trump votes. Needs the absolute values, to not be absolutely useless.

  • Blame the others* is the winning strategy.

Double points if they look different

  • Let's remember that (unless you're a troll) we're all angry and upset this bullshit result. So for example I'm happy to apologise for posting my favourite crack smoking pic in mistaken response to a niche meme :)

  • Left vs right is not a relevant way to divide the electorate.

The democrats represented elite interests and views on everything from identity politics to immigration to the economy.

Basic signifiers of this are their massive lead in donor capital, their celebrity endorsements, and their lead among college graduates.

  • Well, I was right about it not being close. Eeesh.

  • I wasn't arguing with you, just commenting that even American conservatives don't take what they say about communists literally.

  • I agree that the morality of who pulls the trigger is debatable. My perspective is that I would rather the government have more money and resources to pursue other conservation work.

I wouldn't frame all hunters as being bloodthirsty killers. Some of them, absolutely yes: there is a population of middle-aged dudes with lots of disposable income that go out with 4x4s and excessive firepower. But the hunters I know have a lot of respect for what they're participating in and are very modest about what they do.

There are guardrails that mitigate abuse of the system. The state issues a certain number of permits. Anyone hunting without a permit is severely prosecuted if they're caught. Hunting lions in particular is highly regulated and requires training that your average meathead will likely fail.

  • Hunting lions in particular is highly regulated and requires special training.

  • (who would've won)

But yes you are broadly right (not right wing) on other things.

  • i'm going to find a website showing puppy and kitten videos, watch them all and tune everything else out.

    For four years

  • there is a population of middle-aged dudes with lots of disposable income that go out with 4x4s and excessive firepower.

Not convinced it's an argument to say its fine because there are good eggs if people like this are also allowed to just go and do their thing?

  • Left vs right is not a relevant way to divide the electorate.

    This is so true.

Its should be divided on rim brakes v disc brakes.

  • Where's this data from? Polls or actual demographic data?

  • even the youth weren't exactly sold on the Dems vibes

The democrats don’t have the social media game that the republicans and their supporters do. Young men and even boys are being served conservative talking points day in and day out online, without their guardians knowing that it’s happening. Comedians like Joe Rogan, who is worth north of $100M but acts like a normal dude, push a worldview and an agenda that ultimately harms the economic and political interests of everyone except the 0.01%, and they’re managing to get the victims of their predatory agenda onboard with them.

  • Typical. Bernie, the coaster brake guy, is always being ignored.

  • Lol, I need as many laughs as I can get today!

  • Add in roller brakes for about the same value as the margin of error, and I think we’re set.

  • bernie is a 3-speed sturmey! they are coasting, slow, and hot af

  • I guess the pollsters are also fucked πŸ˜‚ got that one seriously wrong...

  • Not sure if this is a serious question?

TL;DR different band wagon this time. (the point wasn't about Rogan specifically but the broader republican proliferation and momentum online)

  • He raised something like 2.5x the amount of campaign donations that Biden did, mostly from donations smaller than $200 (Biden mainly had big donations).

He beat Biden by like 20% in Nevada then got slammed in the primaries in 10 out of 14 southern states. Black and older voters were particularly impactful, if memory serves.

(Editing out. BATT covered this point succinctly)

  • oof bringing 28 here really makes it a sharp analogy .. thin fucking line, am i right?!

  • Look, America is a wild place. I can't explain this behaviour, just like I can't explain why some people put lift kits on their F-150s and hang truck nuts off the hitch or why they'd vote for a literal criminal to hold the office of the President.

Really my only argument for my decision is based on preserving government funding. Americans don't like taxes, so we have to raise money for some government services in ways that others find distasteful.
