Fuck sake America

Full isolationist? Close the borders? USSA…

• #19181
Which also shows politicians can only do so much sadly, what can Labour do about this?
The Tories wouldn't be able to stop Trump either.

And Taiwan.
There are a few islands right on the coast of China that have remained under Taiwanese jurisdiction all this time. I predict a Crimea style hybrid invasion of these sometime in the next four years. -

I think Europe needs to be all in behind Ukraine now. The USA will (once again) adopt its isolationist policy and Putin will be rubbing his hands with glee at the prospect of terrorising western Europe. I'd sooner we went down swinging tbh.

Trump will make a deal with Putin and 'fix' the situation in the Ukraine. He'll 'win' there too.
-
• #19185
So much this. Time for EU to get their shit together
-
• #19186
The Tories will be enthusiastically blowing on Trumps balls

A Chinese invasion would fuck large parts of the American economy, especially Silicon Valley.
It would also be the largest amphibious assault in history and logistically extremely challenging for China. Even if the Chinese think the conditions are favourable, it is still a high risk endeavour with no guarantee of success.

Looking forward to the next series of USA where they go full 'Republic' and tech bros become Philosopher Kings.

Prime evidence that educated liberals may be more susceptible to conspiracy theories than anyone.

I guess it is more comforting to think that the betting markets are being influenced by a shadowy hand for nefarious purposes than it is to accept the wisdom of crowds makes Trump favourite.

The confirmation that this forum is full of clueless morons is reward enough for me.

They will find reasons you were wrong and they were right all along

Starmer's decision to send loads of people to help the dems has probably not gone down well
The warning signs were there for the Harris campaign.

This.
Fuck the Democrats. A bunch of losers who have nothing to offer. Already had one shot across the bows with the first Trump presidency, and their response to that was to do nothing to meaningfully improve the lives of normal americans. This is on them.
Saw the win coming from a hundred miles away but doesn't make it any less depressing this morning.

Basically this and exactly this. Decency and high brow optimism doesn't win votes. It's 2016 all over again.

Christ this is depressing on so many levels, you hope humanity can drag itself forward and then you are reminded why it can’t.
-
• #19197
In a sane country, they should be able to put up a shot on a stick and still beat Trump.
-

Harris,it won't be close, good night.
Aged well. I expected the worst and hoped for the best. Fuck this is depressing. It feels worse than Brexit and Trumps first victory as the worldwide consequences are going to be nastier than last time.
I’d love for Harris to win all the remaining states but fuck it looks unlikely.

Lovely way to start the day.
My guess was on balance it would fall to Harris - but really too close to call, especially given peoples view of the economy. But I absolutely did not expect Trump to win the popular vote, and didn't really expect for there to even be a result yet. So while I wouldn't have said a Trump victory meant I was wrong with my prediction, I was most definitely wrong on how I expected this to go with the speed and size of his victory.
He's won this election in every sense. I know results are still to come, but it looks like a clear and decisive victory. This is who America wants.

Ukrainian territory isn't Trump's to give away.
Sadly, you are correct.
