  • You sure? Every UK one I've bought has English and French. Loving that Turtle!

Edit: And now I want JDM (and Arabic) dates even more! =D

  • 7548 7000 from ‘83

  • Love that Fujitsubo. Those SELs make it look huge though

  • Yeah, disclaimer: it's a recent change and not everything will be English/kanji. You'd need to check. It does vary still. I have an SRPK33 that is EN/FR, and a SRPJ43 that is EN/JP. The transparent dial ones like the SRPJ45 are EN/JP. The new SNXS series like the SRPK91 are EN/JP. So I'm not sure if that SRPJ37 would be or not. I'm not even sure it's going to be a blanket change, it might just be some models.

  • I thought all Ks were EM/FR and Js were EN/JP (or EN/AR for middle east)?

  • That seems to be changing, the SRPK91K1 is 100% EN/JP.

  • Wonderful lol.

  • Basically I think it indicates the market rather than anything else, it’s just the decisions on what day wheel they put in for the UK market is now not necessarily tied to that. Seiko reference numbers are a law unto themselves. Primarily I think the J / K difference is tied to whether it says "Made in Japan" or just "Japan" on the dial.

  • I also have a black/gold Turtle with English/Arabic day wheel.

  • Very nice. Bought 'locally'?

Yeah I see what you mean, will have to ascertain the language before any purchases, so much for the J/K.

  • EBay I think it was.

  • If that’s the mini Citizen I bought one for my daughter and its lovely (bad photo)

  • Now I know it's mini, I want one.

  • My watch in the photo is a bn0000 which is about 40mm. I have small wrists

  • That's lucky! Makes me want to wear my Seiko Sea Urchin but need to get the crystal fixed and cba to do it myself

  • By the way if anyone is interested in buying the black/gold Turtle I could part with it. I pretty much always pick the other one to wear and I don’t need two.

Excellent condition, no scratches, original steel bracelet included (solid end links!), boxed etc.

    £180?

  • It definitely wears bigger due to that. Will probably whack it on a nato honestly but wanna try the bracelet for a little bit.

  • The retailer BEAMS in Japan, which always gets cool limited edition Seikos (usually with a black colour theme) just announced this - https://www.instagram.com/p/DCAMrEVT8RI/

All black, with a black translucent dial and even a black PVD bracelet which Seiko don’t often do. Pretty cool. Only 300 units.

  • Do you have more pics?

  • If you don't have Instagram:

Japanese retailer BEAMS has announced a new exclusive Seiko Five Sports model. This is an all black model with a black translucent dial. It has a stainless steel case measuring 46.0 x 42.5 x 13.4mm and utilizes the 4R36 calibre. This is a limited edition of 300 units. BEAMS list the product as product number 11-48-0752-784 but it will have an official model number starting with SBSA.

  • Haha, my bad. I meant your Turtle for sale. Already googled that smoked out 5 Sports and was doing the ¥>£ conversion.

  • I really need to learn to click the reply-to link, sorry 😂

I'll take some better pics of the Turtle in the daylight tomorrow.

  • No rush. Checked the model out online anyway. Thanks!

  • Once I worked out how to AC it, it’s ticking over nicely. Must say that Casio were lazy.

The year will only go from 1980 to 2020. Livid. Here I am, living in 1984.

On one hand, it's rather annoying to have what seems like either an arbitrary limitation, or one imposed by an impressive degree of stinginess with compute...

But on the other, who ever needs their watch to tell them the year, and either the year isn't constantly displayed as in your case so meh, or it is visible on the default display, in which case it's proudly vintage.

Casio seems to specialise in generating a strong urge in nerds to go and work for them, via creating awesome watches which almost universally obviously lack one feature or another... And also by apparently forgetting just how cool and awesome they used to make them, and mostly doing a bunch of boring same-old stuff for the last twenty years.

The new ABL-100 is pretty nifty, but how about bringing back EL backlights, and doing some more full dot matrix stuff? I reckon I could cook up some designs which would generate nerdgasms galore and blur the line between smartwatches and the low-power passive LCD niftiness of yore far more than the ABL-100... WTF, Casio? Pull your finger out!

  • I was going for thé standard but they hâve minis Also , 37mm i think
