Anyone recommend a good multitool?

  • Got my Park IB-3. Made in China! I suppose that should be expected for the price. I'll see how it fairs. Slightly surprised they didn't include a pozi-drive or cross-head screwdriver, but it's got everything else including a chain tool and tyre lever.

  • Does anyone know of a more minimal multool with a 15mm spanner than the Topeak Alien II?

  • Since thread has been resurrected, I am also in need of a multi tool. Something that would trump a Lezyne SV11/10. I am yet to buy one but it looks it has every tool I would need and maybe someone has some crazy secret knowledge that they could enlighten me with.

  • Crank Brothers Pica. Exceedingly good - I recommend them unreservedly. They have a couple of options in terms of numbers of tools.

  • I'm using one of these airace ones, well made but they are a bit short/fiddly at times but it's more for emergencys on the road since I have a proper set of tools at home. The middle hex comes off which I didn't understand for ages until I noticed it was the size to tighten up the tool sides, can't decide if I like or dislike that. The large hex adapter bit is also magnetic. I carry a small adjustable spanner too or 8mm+15mm since you usually need to hold the spanner one side and then hex the other side so having them on the same tool doesn't work.

  • I had seen the Pica before and actually considered it but was put off by a bad review but now that you suggested it, maybe it's worth reconsidering. And I've also got every tool at home, I'm just trying to find a tool that would last and be of good quality (and Lezyne has always been good at that) that I could take on a ride with me and feel relatively safe (provided I didn't forget tubes, pump, and tyre levers).

  • Looking to service this Leatherman Wave. I use it so often I considered buying another, or something from another brand to complement it. I've seen a few with screw removing pliers, larger scissors etc.

  • Send it to Whitby & Co (UK), they handle the guarantee in Britain.

I sent an 'original' Leatherman to them as some of the tools had snapped. They couldn't repair as the model wasn't made anymore and sent me a Supertool 300 free of charge as a replacement.

    Amazing service.

  • Forgive the necromancy, but it's probably better than creating a new thread.

My car got broken into, again. All that was taken were some nominal items (a drink, pack of crisps n that) and one of my favourite multi-tools, again.

It was a Topeak Hexus 20 or whatever. Had it for some 10 years, so a bit pissed as it's the best multitool I've had, contending with things like the Silca Ti-ratchet, Silca Venti 20, Topeak PT30 (which I find too stubby) and others.

What are your recommendations? Don't want to spend a fortune.
