Is it maybe that he's entertaining to watch?

Top US pollsters Selzer & Co calling Iowa for Harris by 3 points, margin of error is 3.4% so whatever, right? Maybe not. Trump beat Biden in Iowa by 8% last time out (the Selzer poll stated he would win by 7%) so this is potentially a HUUUUGE swing.
I have everything crossed.

Another poll in Iowa on the same day gives Trump an 8% lead. Not as reputable pollsters as Selzer, but still, it's the hope that kills you.

Odds are shortening on Harris. A glimmer of hope for Tuesday?

I'm really trying not to engage with the whole thing but failing miserably, obvs. It's just so important.
Queensland just flipped from Labor (sic) to Liberal (right wing wankers), this has been hard enough to cope with. Queenslanders are a bunch of stupid fuckwits, they've, quite literally, never had it so good and yet... New premier has already lied about who's gonna be in his cabinet, said today he's getting rid of Truth Telling and we're waiting for him to give the mines a massive boost in profits (profits which Labor clawed back and gave to Queenslanders via 50c public transport fares, cheaper car registration, more hospitals and more frontline health staff, etc) and also ban abortion. He dodged the abortion question at every opportunity in the run up to the election but the slippery racist deadshit still got in.
Anyway, fuck Trump.

Thanks, good to know. It sounds like Pennsylvania is the big one, so will maybe get results later on Wednesday?
Whichever way the results go, it's going to take weeks/months for all the lawsuits to get resolved!

Liberal (right wing wankers) ... and also ban abortion.
There's something darkly funny about a Liberal party attacking women's rights.

I amicably encourage anyone stressed by the election to ignore it completely for the next 48 hours. We’re in the last window of blissful possibility, and if one candidate wins there will be plenty of opportunities to stress and no lack of outlets trying to monetise it. Might as well seize the lovely day.

The only things the Liberal party is liberal with, are their definition of probity for public officials, what's considered acceptable for corporations, and government handouts for large corporations and the well to do. Always been socially conservative, and now the federal party has become dominated by these Queensland deadshits, is also liberally applying American imports of culture wars and conspiracy theories without even converting them from left-hand drive. Thankfully not many takers; hopefully those dickheads won't realise a relevance filter is what they need.
And hopefully, Queenslanders will realise what a pack of fuckwits they were to vote them in, when abortion gets banned by those raving loonies.

Amazing to think how many blue collar workers, who've seen wages decrease over the last however many years, place their faith in a better tomorrow with business people who have clear demonstrable track records of fucking workers over for their upside.

Never underestimate the lure of the American dream that everyone has the chance to make it big. People’s utter failure to understand the odds that they will become rich beyond their dreams is depressing. Rather than vote for a system where the weakest are supported and there is a national social safety net vs the lottery that they might suddenly become wildly wealthy people chose the path where they will most likely be shafted.
It feels like some kind of collective gamblers fallacy. Despite the poverty gap increasing people assume at some point their numbers will come up on the lottery.

Definitely wearing a Proud Boys cap yesterday tho.

Absolutely. That said...
Despite the poverty gap increasing people assume at some point their numbers will come up on the lottery.
Sadly, while this seems to be true for some of them, I think others just feel proud to live in a country where there are ultra-rich people, in the same way they're proud that it has a poweful military or wins a lot of Olympic gold medals.

Not excusing it, but the Dems also don't have a fantastic track record. NAFTA and all that. And they are also very reliant on donations, Pelosi is linked to some dodgy shares wealth and all that.
Of course, thinking the Reps are not heavily reliant on donations / bought or that the current Reps are going to fix any of this is not backed by data.
If they both suck, perhaps at least vote for the party that isn't outright going to ban people's rights and wants to end democracy as much as possible.

The USA also has this weird linking religion with material wealth philosophy, with "prosperity gospel" churches.
Am quite sure there is something in the Bible about "it's either worshipping God or money, cannot do both" ;)

What the polls looking like today? Since this is basically a gamble at this point, what's ppls bets?

Trump’s 2020 grievances: Mr. Trump held three rallies on Sunday and spent much of the first one listing his false claims about voter fraud in 2020 and his claims that this year’s election will be fraudulent. He told a crowd in Lititz, Pa., that he “shouldn’t have left” the White House in January 2021 and spoke about journalists being shot.
...Just wow...

this election is a toss-up. Don't believe anyone trying to confidently predict the result at this stage
I wrote this three months ago in this thread, and it remains true now
