  • I bet the depth of magnets helps loads - the Restrap versions always seemed a tad light in their connection.
It totally makes sense as a tech showcase, honestly just a flex of look-how-much-skill-I-have. In a way that’s advertising that if a customer wanted to they could pay you for it, more than other bag makers who might have to do the R&D first right?

  • I guess? If a bag like this doesn’t get a platform like a show there’s no real point for me to make it. So I’m not marketing the bag, I’m marketing the brand. I enjoy a challenge, but my hourly rate drops off a cliff when a bag takes more than three emails. People love to say I should charge for email writing as well, but I don’t want to charge over half a grand for an 8L rack bag.

  • Keep your voice down, there are plenty of men desperate for the opportunity to pay over half a grand for an 8L rack bag.

  • Checking our email threads from last year Oh, crumbs

  • Have you thought about setting up a Google form or something similar to get an initial idea of what people want?
I started at my job about 6 months ago and one of the first things I did was set up a couple of basic forms for people requesting our services (cycle training, led rides and pop up bike mechanics) for ad hoc events. It massively cut down on the labour that goes into stuff that's already borderline not profitable. I think in part because it makes people think about what they actually want and means they can tell you that immediately, rather that going back and forth to get basic details.
