God damn, easy to forget how much effort bossman puts into lfgss when you realise how functionally shit other forums are!
Trying to get onto those other boards is proving a challenge.. -

His factory black 335 made me reach for my Memphis Dot Fat Neck, was just noodling on the couch the rest of the night. That guitar sounds so great acoustically but so bad through an amp, I think it needs some nice low gain PAFs but I'm scared to do it in case it sounds worse!
Needs aged nickel covers too.

Oh man. That’s so cool. I need a 335 in my life.

My ex gf’s sister was Greeny’s lawyer in the late 90s. She spent a lot of energy trying to recover near priceless instruments that he would gift to anyone who crossed his path when his mental health was at its lowest ebb.

He was kicking around Gorleston when I was a kid, not far from where I grew up. But I had no idea what a Peter Green or a Fleetwood Mac was back then.

Such a sad story, his playing on those Fleetwood Mac records is just beautiful. Fuck Clapton.
-
• #15383
He was such a beautiful soul and player. I fucking loathe Clapton.

Thanks all for the string recommendations - monels are on! Went for 011s because I'm an electric guitarist really and loving the feel and the fact they're not zinging around but looking forward to see how the tone settles in the coming week or two!
In other news, does anyone want some reverb in their life? I have a TC Skysurfer I have no need for. It's a very competent pedal, but since I have both Universal Audio verbs (heavenly and evermore) plus a couple options for pre-gain gated/reverse verb I really have no need for it. 20 quid?

Hello guitarists. one of the pickup adjust screws has been lost from my daughter's Squier Mustang. The internet told me to buy a 6-32 x 1 inch machine screw to replace it, which I did, but it's too big. Do I just need to size down to 4-32 (or 1/8)? stupid imperial system.

• #15391
I thought Squiers were metric?
-
• #15392
ah maybe that's my problem
-
• #15393
I could be wrong, I was thinking about Epiphones not Squiers. An old fashioned hardware shop would probably have a thread gauge that could tell you, but do they even exist anymore??
I'm gonna stick one in my Ali Express basket, very useful thing to have around the place.

That actually makes sense - my understanding has always been that Epis are metric not so much because of brand, but because of the factories of origin being in places which don't deal with imperial (ie Asia), so it stands to reason Squiers would be the same in that regard

A lot to be said for a wiring upgrade before pickups. I installed a Monty’s 335 loom on mine Epiphone and it was night and day. Much cheaper than a new set of pafs. Then of course I found a set of Gibson Custombuckers in a sale 😂.
-
• #15396
Agree. I put a Monty’s loom in my 90s Epi Riviera makes big difference to the feel having quality stitches and pots as much as anything else.

• #15397
Plus I dig the stock PUs anyway.
-
• #15398
That is generally the case with Squiers too, yes, because of being made in Asia

Don’t suppose anyone has a spare lead they’re willing to sell inc postage?

Sparkly phaser :)
