I'm thinking about this too but they're quite a bit bigger

We've both got Pixel 6a and thus far, both work great. July 2023 purchase though so only a year and a bit old and that doesn't count as shit in my world for durability.

Yeah my 6a is about 18 months old and has been fine so far.
Seems to be more of a mixed bag for reliability with the 7s and 8s, and too soon to tell with the 9s.

Belated but this can also be a DAC issue. Not all phones bother with a DAC for the USB port, and only some USB - 3.5mm adapters will also have a DAC

I meant to reply earlier.
I have a Moto G5G, bought when it proved impossible to purchase original batteries for my previous LG G4, (or rather batteries with anything like a day's capacity), on the recommendation of a pal who suggested, at the time, it was about the cheapest 5G phone from a 'brand'.
Consequently, I am signed up with Moto/Lenovo, and receive numerous emails promoting their latest/best offers. I seldom see the same phone promoted twice, as the Moto range appears to have no coherency, just endless new models, at both ends of the price range, and in the middle,
but with seemingly few new features, just different main processors and slightly better camera sensors. The £199 MotoG5G has probably been adequate value for money, as it is now my back up phone, (without a sim card), and is used for a few pictures, some podcasts and some activity tracking.
I notice that Moto were very slow to issue updates for Android, (it will never be advanced beyond Android 11), and I can't remember the last time I was prompted for a security update*.I would not be tempted to invest the cost of the Edge 50neo unless it does come with a guarantee of X years Android updates and Y years of security updates, comparable to a similarly priced mobile from Google or Samsung.
(* Just checked; most recent Security Update was July 2022).

Thank you that's useful feedback. I think I'll just get the next Pixel Xa or a Nothing

Cheers, that's probably the reason. I can't see any related option under developer settings. Oh well it was only a quid 🤷♂️

My Motorola phone has completely given up connecting to my car with Bluetooth. Doesn't even work if I force it to reconnect. Kids phones connect to the car fine and my phone will connect to other bluetooth things. Any ideas?

• #23185
Guessing you've forgotten the other from each device and tried a fresh pairing? You could change the device name and try again but that might mess up any other things you've paired to.

• #23186
i think I've tried this, i got so annoyed i sort of gave up. A bit pissed off with this phone tbh, if I use the strava app to record then open another app (e.g. camera) then it drops the GPS connection and ruins the strava data

After far too much chin stroking, i bought an S24+ which are currently reduced to £750, and got an extra £100 off by trading in an ancient but working OnePlus.
Seemed like a reasonable deal overall. I preferred the size of the S24 but evidently so do a lot of other people which I guess is why the nominally higher spec S24+ is discounted below the S24 price right now.
Now for the pain of changing over phones.

why does Samsung want my exact date of birth?
edit - trying to get rid of as much Samsung junkware as possible.

Sorry if this is answered everywhere in the thread but very quickly - have an old Oneplus Nord to trade in and want to get a Oneplus 12. Any tips on best place to get any kind of decent value for the trade in of the old one? Thanks!

Decent deal this: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/30-off-pixel-9-phones-pixel-9-pixel-9-pro-pixel-9-pro-xl-pixel-9-pro-fold-4448388
I managed to get it to work so got a very cheap upgrade.

Where did you go for this offer? Can you trade in multiple phones?
-
• #23192
Oof £59 trade in value on a pixel 8, £215 trade in value on a pixel 9 for my pixel 4a

Samsung online store is offering min £75, doesn't have to be working.
I went to Samsung shop in Westfield and asked if they could match / better the online offer (turns out they are a concession so not actually a Samsung store themselves) and they offered £100 for my working OnePlus 5T. (It was two phones back so pretty old!)
I don't think they accept more than one trade in per purchase but didn't test that.

I'm not very enthused by a fair few reliability reports on the 8 and 9 series. Giffgaff have the 7a at £199 at the moment which is quite tempting but still not much of a jump from my current phone, still the battery life will be better plus screen responsiveness, and security updates once again which are my main issues, 5g would be a good bonus
-
• #23195
that's why i went over to Samsung.
the device does seem pretty robust but i much prefer the plain android os you get with Pixel.
-
• #23196
Best option is to find somewhere doing a special offer, you won't get much otherwise. Samsung seem to do that quite often (I got £300 off for trading in a Galaxy S Mini that I'd bought for a tenner) or sometimes the manufacturer runs one for their own models.
-
• #23197
Yeah I've not liked the idea of Samsung for a while cos of bloatware and skinned OS but that's dealable with 3rd party launchers etc. A big plus of the nexus/pixel line was cost price handsets that matched very good other models. Seem to be more market rate now so less advantages to getting them now

• #23198
My phone before my current one was a Pixel 6 with some enhanced trade in deal.
They returned the trade in phone saying it had screen burn at the top of the screen so didn't get any trade in value.

Off the top of my head I can't really pick out what differences the Samsung OS has on the face of it.
It's got some extra useful stuff like Routines but you can uninstall the Samsung calendar, etc and disable most of the extra stuff.

Ta
I have a 7 pro. I've had absolutely no reliability issues.
