I've been meaning to sell my Neutrino...

It's a bit loose but acceptable riding cement or asphalt. I run a 1 tooth larger front chainring which allows me to take up some slack on bumpy surfaces. For some weird reason I prefer a taller ratio riding gravel/hard pack dirt. It somehow relieves pressure off my saddle pushing on the pedals because of the added resistance. The pic of the current set up is just for running to the bank/store/picking up take out food in city traffic.
Serious question though, does anybody run taller gears for winter riding? Seems a bit counter productive from what I've read. Most people say to run shorter gear ratios to warm up quicker/make riding through wind easier and last but not least limit top speed when it's wet. I was thinking when it gets colder I will be less likely to overheat and therefore have more stamina then in summer... Just putting it out there, any thoughts?

I’ve not thought about it. Just run the same ratios the year through. I’d guess dragging a heavier bike with slow tyres on shitty roads in the winter is what makes you quicker/ less knackered come spring?

sks edge guards fitted for the winter season.
really easy to set up and impressively solid.
front flap made out of a scrap of dead animal skin, but I might remake this a bit longer / wider.
also fitted a zero offset superstar chainring to sort out the chain line. runs like a dream now.

I believe it’s pronounced Black Snow
That space between the words is SO needed !

Am I entitled to financial compensation if I've used mucoff wet lube on a drivetrain years ago that I was actually planning on using again? Currently scraping off cured black muck from a chainring with a scalpel.

That's so well proportioned though. Can you not just cut your legs off?

Just built this monsterosity (pun intended).
Lucky local kleinanzeigen bargain of "single speed mtb", which is a coveted early tens surly 1x1. Even had giant cadex forks installed which I was looking for for my Cadex missing the original fork so stars aligned and all that.
Mostly parts bin and parts it came with build, although I was anticipating a build like this.
Forks are Kona P2 from a 44mm headtube Dew with very similar original a-c but that necessitated the fat FSA Pig. It is a DH though, so industrial bearings.
Will change the seatpost for a silver inline, and get a longer stem. Also will get matching silver spacer stack.
It's a dingle speed because I had the parts. 42/40x16/18. And FUN!

Will get some daylight pictures when the changes have been made, promise

Have some grey cotton bartape ready. May give it the Hulsroy bleach sprinkles (tm).
Also planning on getting a silver rear wheel with 6 bolt disc mount and similar profile to the front araya sometime in the new year.
Then I can mount a 16tooth bolt on cog.
So dinglespeed/fixed monstercross. Rad!Will maybe also fit a 400 a-c disc fork that I have spare to see if that livens it up.
And spray the Kona fork black.
And possibly get some decals. -

Dingle speed is totally rad, I'm planning to do the same thing with my allez. I ran a FSA pig headset on my steamroller for the few years it filled in as my wet weather commuter run around which performed perfectly. Build it to your heart's content so if you desire to change the fork, more power to you! The build looks comfy and practical so far

Love this. Looks like a perfect winter commuter.

Cheers. feels like it's a change of tyres away from perfect.
tanwalls and winter roads aren't the best mix, and also it really needs tubeless. -

This was the first remodelling (2012) by Kevin Winter- track ends and all braze-ons removed.

I'll dig out a pic of the original road configuration (initially chromed frame with first gen 6 speed Dura Ace SIS), custom built for me in 1987 when I first moved to Japan.

That's really cool that you already own it since '87
Super cool. Izumi super toughness would finish it off.
