Tempted. Did the etape in 2015 and 2016 - and we're now signing up for 2025 (10 yr anniversary!). I don't fancy my chances having seen the route earlier.

Did the 2022. Definitely type 2 fun. (See timber reference)

I did the l'etape last year and it was horrendous, it was 30 degrees plus and the feed stations were appalling with no isotonic drinks. I was cramping in both legs and had to result to walking/sitting down in the shade on the Col Joux de plane.
Then to top it all off, when I finished and had to sit down because I felt sick (I think I was suffering form heat exhaustion) I sat in melting tarmac.
I'm interested in the jersey if it's still available and happy to donate to the forum but I don't live in London so would need posting if possible. I'm 6ft4", 82Kg so it may be a little baggy on me, but i'm only going to get fatter as I get older!

Etape 2023 was pure cruelty. Dangerous levels of heat, my garmin recorded 3h above 40C. I was already dying at the top of Ramaz, never going to forget the galleries. Fucking awful. Saw a lot of unsavoury scenes (true of every etape tho?)

Agreed, I had to walk on Ramaz too alongside Joux de Plane. I have never had such bad cramps in my life before. Think there was 6,000 out of 15,000 who failed to finish. I finished but it took 11 hours, and i've never struggled like I did that day and I did not enjoy it.

Gone to @Big_Rouleur7.
Did you do a big ride in 2023? Want to show up to Albertville not looking like this is your first time? Carrying a bit of timber?
Have I got the perfect jersey for you.... https://www.santinicycling.com/en/short-sleeve-jersey/etape-du-tour-2023-jersey-4959.html
Size: XL. Bagged and mint.
I booked the jersey+ride package, couldn't ride it due to a still-f**ked knee.
Yours for a forum donation.
