I bet the depth of magnets helps loads - the Restrap versions always seemed a tad light in their connection.
It totally makes sense as a tech showcase, honestly just a flex of look-how-much-skill-I-have. In a way that’s advertising that if a customer wanted to they could pay you for it, more than other bag makers who might have to do the R&D first right?

RE Fidlock chat, they're similar to Restrap hardware but the countersunk version. Far bigger threads, appears to make a difference. To be honest I see projects like this as a tech showcase more than anything. If you're not exhibiting your bike at a bike show you're better off with a basket and a basket bag atmo. If you don't ask during peak season I'm happy to take on projects like this, but they're fiddly and as such they need to be priced to match.
Much like (probably commercially unviable) framed ultralight backpacks.
