  • I’ve bought from him before, lots of time passed and very few messages but eventually I did receive. Foolishly bought soemthing from @willdman again and still haven’t heard anything from him, really hoping I actually receive this time. And like a numpty I chose friends and family on PayPal 🤦‍♂️

  • Me.

Bike shipped but held by FedEx… no idea why.

Now back with me, repacked and resent yesterday.

Not been online to check so missed that it hadn’t been delivered.

  • Not sure if this deserves to be in the bad traders or not but banana industries merino socks really aren't. I just received mine and I think the photo below clearly shows what these are(not) merino

  • As a counterpoint, I bought some tyres from them and it was a 10/10.

  • Oh I bought tyres, inners, and a carbon steerer expander plug in a different order and they are fine.

The setup seems very much old school planetx with janky descriptions and buyer beware.

Kinda disappointed as I loved the old planetx thin merino socks and were hoping these would be equivalent.

  • They're these, right?

    https://www.bananaindustries.co.uk/products/sock-4-active-light-breeze?pr_prod_strat=jac&pr_rec_id=95ff1a930&pr_rec_pid=8643035332893&pr_ref_pid=8643024519453&pr_seq=uniform

The description clearly states 56% merino. Have you asked them for an explanation? Could be a mistake with the packaging.

  • Had an email back. The response was its the packaging that's wrong rather than the website.

At this point I've exhausted my capacity to GAF so will just accept the statement and move on as they weren't exactly expensive.

    YMMV

  • correct me if this is unwarranted, @user156565 (i'm assuming)

bought omnium listed here and within a couple of days it's already for sale on FB marketplace with a £600 markup. straight coppied and pasted the description and everything.

  • shocking, honestly think that kind of stuff deserves a ban.

  • £600 markup lol
I guess that covers the train ticket /s

  • I guess you got what you wanted out of the sale, but pretty fucking rude of them all the same.

  • especially as there were other people with interest and as is mentioned in the original sale thread, what could have been a good comunity deal has just been taken advantage of out of greed

  • looks like I can't do basic maths lol, fixed it

  • Is cross posting worth mentioning in this thread, or is it for more heinous crimes?

  • I think it depends - it seems to be pretty well policed thread by thread, and the only people who really take umbrage over it seem to be new users who disappear once they get mugged off anyway, so don’t know if this thread would make a difference/they’d be invested enough to care (this is all conjecture)

  • Hello the lovely community of LFGSS! First off I want to apologise for being ignorant, I didn’t know that you weren’t allowed to flip items bought on this forum. Secondly, I would just like to explain the situation. After having bought the bike for £1200 and getting it delivered to me for £120 I soon realised that it’s too small for me. I took it out for a days work and came back with severe back pain. So that is why I am selling it. I thought about making £200-£300 on it knowing that a sellers asking price never gets met on places like Facebook marketplace. I don't want to have bad blood on this forum and I hope you all understand my position now that I have explained it.

  • Personally I feel that if I ever got a good deal on here, and whatever I bought didn't suit my needs, I would initially re-list it on the forum at the price I paid for it. Surely that's what the whole 'community' thing is about.

  • getting it delivered to me for £120

That's the cost of ownership, you don't get to pass it on

  • Ban hammer should be swung more readily for people who predominantly post in the classifieds imo.

  • Just sell it back on here then if it doesn't fit you

  • meh, I can live with it, whats the harm?

  • Cross posting as someone else mentioned is usually policed on a thread by thread/ listing by listing basis.
Always seen this thread as a way of gaining recompense/retribution when a sale on here has gone massively awry, also as a sense check to make sure you’re not being a dick when it comes to chasing someone for refund/goods posting etc..

  • The whole usernumbers thing, can’t be bothered with a username and doesn’t post anything in the main part of the forum should have been the red flag here. They’re just vermin on the forum.

  • My experience is that long term users tend to get a pass. I called someone out once and they trued to block me on Instagram (where I found them advertising thousands of pounds of kit as well as here)
Then they ignored me on the thread and just cracked on. I think other actually came to defend them.

This isn't just once. It's a few times.
I don't think it's fair that new users get jumped on by multiple users but older/longer term users skirt around the rules.

  • why does it matter though? exclusivity? "community"?

I dont think they are mutually exclusive, if a community leader advertises on ebay and on here at the same time does he/she become a cunt by doing so overnight?
