  • Did anyone enjoy subzero?

  • Yes. It's more focused (i.e. smaller) but some cool twists on the original formula. Not better but it'll scratch that itch and worth playing. Some very cool moments.

  • Cheers man šŸ™‚ now just gotta wait til it's on a massive discount

  • On the off chance that anyone had an eye on the recent Robocop but didn't fancy paying full price - it's currently Ā£13.49 on cdkeys.

  • I enjoyed Robocop and got it cheap through cd keys too.

I'm just about to complete super mario bros wonder (except the most difficult courses!), has anybody got the newly released sonic x shadow generations game? Just wondering if it's worth getting or not, I've never spent much time playing sonic games and only ever played sonic games at friends houses back in the mega drive days.

  • Dunkey had what qualifies as a pretty glowing review from him on it this weekā€¦

  • Playing God of War Ragnarok on PC just now. Enjoying it - just the right amount of challenging combat and plot.

  • Which Switch version is currently the best value?
Thinking of upgrading from my Switch lite.

  • If you find a good deal, Iā€™d go Oled.

Itā€™s an insane difference from regular one + even the kickstand is worth the upgrade.

  • Cheers will check out
(some games don't do well on the Lite. Struggle with Ori games. I'm sure bayonetta needs more dexterity too)

  • On a tangential note, I spotted the Stalker games are coming to Switch. Obviously not the ideal platform to play them on, but a tempting offer regardless.

  • I personally wouldn't upgrade a Switch right now when Switch 2 is likely out next year.

  • in fact there are rumours it will be announced tomorrow
take with a grain of salt though

  • Unless itā€™s coming out before Christmas, why would they announce it now? It would ruin holiday period sales.

  • Just picked up street fighter 6 in Asda for Xbox half price at Ā£17. The reduction sticker said ā€˜dentedā€™ but I couldnā€™t see any issues on the box. They had some other games reduced too, so could be worth checking out your local Asda, though Iā€™d never seen reduced video games in there before.

  • Talk to me about PS5. Got an offer to get a free one with our broadband if we sign up for 24 months. Same price as now so seems like a free ps5.

Itā€™s the ā€œslim digitalā€ version though. So no disc games right? Does that mean Iā€™m stuck with the PlayStation store and paying Ā£Ā£Ā£ for games instead of looking around for deals, bargains, etc?

Iā€™m mainly interested in playing Last Of Us, but will give more games a go if I get it. Looked at the PlayStation plus thing and thereā€™s a few decent games on there, but far from everything I want to try.

Is it still a good deal? Or better to spend Ā£450-500 (Swedish prices) on a second hand disc version?

  • You can, but itā€™s sold out everywhere. Second hand one is double the price of a new one here šŸ¤Æ

  • You can sign up to subscription service with Sony, not quite the range as Game Pass, but has some options. But yes otherwise that is the big limitation of Discless consoles and why both manufacturers are pushing them

  • Also removes the second hand disc market and borrowing a game from a mate

  • Yes, it's funny people always point their fingers at consoles also being a closed market, when the American regulators are forcing Apple to allow 3rd party market places, and I've always been confused because eBay exists?!

But I suspect that is the aim [of Sony and MSoft] to capture all that revenue at the expense of 3rd party and second hand sellers

  • I have a disc version, but have stopped buying hard copies and just download from the store, good for Indy digital games, and Iā€™ve been rebuying games I never finished which I previously had as ps4 hard copies as and when they go on sale on the store, copied across game data and saves, and am much happier not having to swap discs every time I want to play different games.

Can switch between games pretty seamlessly and Iā€™ve overcome my aversion to not having a hard copy of the things I own and as I donā€™t play games that often and donā€™t need to be playing games at launch, am happy to sit and wait for the games Iā€™m interested in to be discounted on the store, which is pretty regularly, just wish list the games youā€™re interested in and check every so often if theyā€™re included in the latest sales promotion.
If youā€™ve got the ps app on your phone you can buy and send to your console for download.
Iā€™d also suggest if youā€™re going to grab one to invest in an upgrade on the ssd, there are 2tb ps5 compatible ones with the heatsink which are available, like this one,
    https://amzn.eu/d/el1fV1s
which wonā€™t break your wallet. And mean you donā€™t have to delete games to make space for new ones..

  • I have basically the exact same experience with my ps4

  • You can also use external USB drives to store games. They won't be payable but it's obviously more convenient than re-downloading.

  • Since it's free, you could take it now, play the available things you want to play and then sell it later to subsidise the cost of a disc version. Or sell it immediately, still in its box, to get more money towards the disc version.
