What crankset is it? Might need some spacer shims or preload collar adjusting, depending on what it is

The crankset is a FSA K-Force Light. It’s got a wavy washer.
It feels like packing it with a shim or two would resolve (at least until I am in a rain soaked ploughed field in the middle of nowhere). -

Lateral play can be taken out with shims between the wavy and the bearing.
If the crank arm wobbles the interface fit is toast.

Well, ‘wobble’ is probably a better description of this than ‘play’ I think: It doesn’t feel like an equal gap around the interface (but I’m sure gonna check that!).
Thanks all!

Either the cranks are a solid unit and they're both moving together in the frame, in which case something's obviously up with the BB, or if it's only one your crank is almost certainly damaged.
If it's just come loose recently, what with those big smooth splines, they might still be up for it if you're lucky - cross your fingers

Thanks, I’ve bought a shim kit and will see what’s possible…
Have I overtightened it and interfered with the interference fit? I noticed on cleaning and fettling after my last ride out that the lefthand crank has a couple of mm lateral play, when tightened : (
New crankset or is there anything else I can do?
