  • @Oliver Schick and @Psmith

Fair comment. I use nodder and chopper interchangeably. And I shouldn’t.

  • I only use nodder on here, you bunch of nodders. If someone is riding like a dickhead then generally I'll use something like "watch where you're fucking going you fucking idiot". That might be my quality breeding though. You lot seem to prefer an eye roll or a tut but then go and vote for Brexit, so I'm not sure which is better/worse.

  • I usually keep my mouth shut, but IMO chopper doesn’t discriminate based on experience, clothes, bike, speed etc - it’s someone riding like a dangerous cunt. That could be someone wearing PNS and passing other riders within a few mm in RePa or someone on a bike that’s three sizes too big, making unsignalled and dangerous manoeuvres in De Beauvoir.

  • "Chopper" to me is Full Kit Wanker / All the gear, no idea / ooh look a butterfly, let's overlap some wheels

"Nodder" is head to toe high-viz but runs all the lights, with headphones on oblivious to their 15 near-death experiences every commute.

"Fucking cunt" is just everyone, all the time.

Anger Management, is where I should be.

  • Anger Management, is where I should be

I’m just in a poor space, mentally, at the moment so not particularly forgiving and not particularly apologetic!

Your nodder description - as offensive and unhelpful as it might be - is right on the money.

  • right on the money.

    #hippyisalwaysright

Doesn't mean I'm good, just right. I'll leave the being good up to the proper hippies.

  • Being good is overrated.

  • Fair comment.

    Now you're just nodding. :)

  • What's the derogatory name for the ones with a stiff neck that shoot into your path from side streets?

  • I use 'chopper', because it's neutral on ability, and the worst examples I've seen in recent months have been from people riding e-mopeds and being unable to handle the speed. 'Riding like a chopper' is also fair comment if the evidence has just been witnessed.

Edit: That wasn't meant as a reply to sohi, but his post suddenly shot out into the thread, and so it can be. :)

But I thought you were Chopper?

  • Country-specific context.

No one has ever cycled in Australia so there's no need for Nodder and Chopper terms.
