I'm selling an e-Bullitt with child carrying box.
I need the space so no sensible offer refused! -

I found myself in a situation where I have to transport a child and his bike every morning to daycare. This is a solution I came up with during the weekend.
- Lift the front wheel to the support hook
- Tighten straps, weight is now on the straps/rack, not the support.
- Ride.
Based on the first try this morning it seems to work rather well. Bike stays where it should and doesn't move or make any noises. 3-point turns are most likely a pain. Will I die if I keep using this or should I change something?

Nice protection
Everyone will live thru a rearwheel lockup

Front box use not an option? If not a FollowMe could be an easier option for everyday use.

Twin seat fitted. More of a battle to install than it should have been, but seems fine now it's in.

How many extra watts does the red harness gain you?
-

It looks OK to me.
In similar circumstances I fixed daughter's bike to the side of the box with cable ties, which worked fine too. A bit of pipe insulation to stop rubbing at critical points, etc...

Is that brand new? There was a recall on those red straps due to some nasty plastics- you can check the number with LvH. If it’s new you’ll probably be fine :)

One feature I really liked was the storage behind til seats - nice place to store a heavy lock.
Also, love the googly eyes -

Yep brand new so hasn't got the plastics recall.
Successful first ride - it's definitely heavier and the center of gravity has shifted up and back. More usable now though without a car seat filling the whole bay.

Front box worked with a 12" bike, with a 4-year-old and a 16" bike there's just not enough room especially in the winter with a cover on. The cover also makes strapping the bike to the side of the box a bit challenging.
FollowMe tandem seems a bit much for this use case, the bike is only hanging there a part of the way, the most practical commercial solution I've seen is the Bakkie bag https://bakkiecycles.fr/en.
I guess I'll try the current solution for a while and hopefully adjust and develop a bit at some point.

Have to say I like the sportscar aesthetic LvH have given their seats.

If you're a fan, why not consider my Bullitt folding seat?

So I can pretend being a kid in a Bullit?
What kid carrier will happen isn't clear, still in the omg it's happening stage.
Most likely r&m, as I work on them. Their seats are probably lighter, but not as fun. -

Looks like the guy from SBC's..

Aye saw that one on eBay, thought it looked familiar.

Does anyone have any experience using a shotgun seat with a Bullitt? Looks like it could be a bit annoying to pedal.

I use a MacRide with our Bullitt - it can get in the way, if you are used to standing up to pedal a lot. But other than that I've just found it incredibly useful.
I chose the MacRide because the saddle sits lower than the Shotgun seat. I bought extra mounting spacers, so I can use the seat across different bikes.

Bullitts are not made to carry children/people IMO. There isnt attention to detail to design for that purpose. Same goes for Omnium. They are hipster cargo bikes.
-
• #14674
Counter point: my kids would choose us riding the Omnium every day over the Riese Muller Load we also have...

because risk = fun ! 😂
Anyone actually ridden a Ginkgo Bike? I want a fast cargo bike that can handle some offroad fun too.
Would love to hear some first hand experience on how they ride.
