In over 30 years in Brighton, I've never seen that big entranceway open. I'll go back tomorrow and Sunday.
Please report back. I tried looking at StreetView to work it out, but the street behind the station is a 'private road', i.e. a pseudo-public space and Google didn't drive into it.
