original eldar dreadnought! xenos but not chaos..i hope. chanting eminates from the box under my desk
was a bit of an ebay bargain - it seems most people only want to buy old space marines (i myself guilty of this). you can get a lot of 1st/2nd edition metals for xenos/ imperium armies for less than their modern counterparts with a bit of scouring

Ahhh. Ta.
Yeah have a Joy Toy heavy Aggressor which I love because it is quite true to the OG.
That said I am not so keen on the 'Medieval' direction a lot of them have gone in.
I think the 'lead' era were best.

Did you get them? I think they are brilliant.

At 50p each, how could I not?
You're very welcome to borrow them if you want to have a play.
They're 'City of Thieves' and 'Rebel Planet'.

I went to Colours yesterday, which was much bigger than expected. Mostly historical wargaming stuff but loads of general hobby stuff too. Less sci-fi but still plenty for everyone. Took the kids expecting them to be bored but they both said they enjoyed it. Ā£5 entry and under 12s go free. It was way busier than I'd expected (we arrived lunch time). All in all pleasantly surprised. Definitely go again next year.

I got given some of the AK fluorescent paint recently and have painted up a test Tyranid. It looks really cool, so bright, stands out, really alien... Until I take a photo and it looks really dull and boring. None of the brightness comes through and it all looks really flat and the gradient is almost completely lost. Is it just my shitty phone or will all cameras do this with fluorescents?

Latest shot of my blood angel display, no game legal units, just painting as them as I enjoy them
Latest is a kitbash sanguinary guard, ive steered away from the ostentatious, propaganda of the imperiums rememberancers . Gold armour? Maybe, but not angels, a normal astartes with a bit of the emperors willā¦ or luck.

Are space marines bigger than when I was a kid? Not seen one in the flesh since I was like 15 but the proportions look different?
They look epic btw -

Are space marines bigger than when I was a kid?
Absolutely! There's 30+ years difference between these two

Good stuff in this thread, keep it up!
Haven't had the usual energy for hobbying recently but just undercoated a few models to get the mojo back. First up this attempt at OSL on what will be a White Scar infernus sergeant.

Also, went to do the mini of the month in the Bristol store and they'd run out but the lady gave the kids an infernus marine each to bring home. I've only been into this store a couple of times and the staff are always great, really kind and happy to chat and take time with people even if they aren't spending any money š

i talk to the woman in liverpool street most times i'm in, on one of these conversations she mentioned they don't have kpi's in the traditional sense, such as selling stock, but more about promoting engagement, makes for a wonderful experience imo. as far as in person goes.
also means if you're starting out you're not going to be sold a bunch of rather expensive paints and plastic. first time i went in with my sister the person serving insisted we bought no more than a starter box and an extra brush. fending off extra questions about brush sizes or paints. seemed surreal for a shop, kept me coming back.
the osl on the seargent is looking excellent!

Love that Night Goblin! I used to have an orc and goblin army back in the day and mostly played night goblins.

I think this is finished. I want to put the chapter logo on the left shoulder. I'll fuck it up and it's impossible to touch up the gradient there. But I want to put the chapter logo there...
If I varnish and then put paint over the top is it easier to remove the paint when I inevitably cock it up, without removing the layers under the varnish?
I'd most likely use airbrush cleaner to remove as it'll dissolve the paint but it's not very strong and would take a longer time to eat through dry varnish/paint.
Or is that a bad idea?

I free handed the fire support chevron on the other shoulder as well as the shield lightning bolt. So stressful but ended up ok. I did need to touch up the lightning but only at the brightest part of the gradient so it was easier to hide.

I bit the bullet in the end and tried the method I suggested above and it came out ok. Didn't need to scrub paint off, thankfully. Went for a made up symbol as I struggle with lightening bolts so anything other than perfect would have looked crap.
