Had a Costa mince pie yesterday as it was my only option due to allergies and the delicious vegan cookie being sold out (at a train station so limited options). It was very wide as opposed to deep which I resented and the pastry was gluten free and so of course desintigrated upon opening. Would rather go without next time.

Tesco Merry mince pies 5 out of 10

With a bit of effort I'm certain you could eat the last 5.

Heard Greggs are in already.

This all feels a little early.
I love this time of year. The best supermarket mince pies are the ones released in September/October. Specifically, the high quality ones (Tesco Finest etc.) which are due to go out of date before Christmas.
Fresh supermarket mince pies are awful. Aging is required.

That is an advanced and nuanced take on the situation.
I am here for it.

Quite. I have always believed the meaningless description of this part of the forum related to the subject matter, while all forum content should be advanced and nuanced despite it's (majority) meaningless nature. We are all here for that surely.

Just had a cinnamon swirl Huel. Big mince pie-brandy-butter-Christmas energy.

First box of Gregg's mince pies scoffed - as good as always, cheap, vegan friendly, tasty -
Greggs's website boldly claims "Our vegan friendly Sweet Mince Pies are a thing of absolute beauty." and who am I to argue. -

Just had my first of the season. Standard Sainsburys baked in store number, served warm with some cream drizzled on top. Just great to be back on the wagon tbh.

Nice at 15p a pop.
BBE today so I am simply ensuring they don't go to landfill, and my earlier too early comments still apply.

is that apple? pear? banana? probably not banana but the grains of spice made it look a bit like banana. OMG how long does it cook down for? Do you get it really black? quel booze? how much have you experimented?

Broke the seal with a pack of TtD Sainsbos. Overly sweet pastry and meagre filling - 5/10

Sainos Taste the Difference - cloying mouth feel, indistinct over sweet homogeneous filling of vague 'fruit'. Zero festive spice. 4/10
Tesco Finest - dry and crumbly pastry, hints of wistfullly walking into a dead relatives bedroom after the wake and opening a dresser drawer. Very sweet filling with a citrusy aftertaste. Not unpleasant, but not great. Zero festive spice. 5/10 (extra point for the citrus blast)
