A young woman spent hours trapped upside down after slipping between two boulders as she tried to retrieve her mobile phone during a hike in Australia.

"We were all like, how did you get down there - and how are we going to get her out?"

Unbelievably, the rescued woman was left with just minor scratches and bruises, NSW Ambulance said.

She did not, however, manage to retrieve her phone.

  • The plane I was on on monday morning had already been through checks and had fired up the engines when a woman started freaking out that she couldn’t find her phone. Whatever she told crew was so bad it meant we technically had to land without having gone anywhere, the stairs were brought out etc. and she was let off. Obviously we were then delayed. As she got off she waved and said ‘have a nice flight’ to everyone with a sense of bitterness, as if we were all smug bastards for having played the game and remembered our phones. As far as I could tell, everyone had been polite and tolerant. When we landed many people were late for their meetings, as this was a commuter flight. Two people who I thought were tech bros were rushing especially. At customs the person of colour of the two was stopped and searched as he ran through. He was apoplectic with rage and indignation and I dread to think how that went down. Hold on to your phones!

  • If she went in from the top they should've been able to drag her out from the top. Dafuq did they need to move rocks for?

  • Reminds me of John Jones, who sadly died in Nutty Putty cave.
Stuck upside down in a very narrow fissure.
Rescuers couldn't get him out, they even collapsed the cave and sealed it after, as it is now his permanent resting place.
