  • Quick update on the Rollei 35AF.
Unfortunately, I have to say the user experience is really bad so I boxed it up this morning and it's already on its way back.
According to reviews the image quality is really good and I don't doubt it but using it was quite a rubbish experience for me tbh.
It feels like using a toy rather than a real camera but my main beef is this:
The shutter release is supposed to stay down after a shot and only pops up again when you advance the film. The shutter button on mine popped up all the time on its own though. When the button is up you can't advance the film. So the only way around I could find was an intentional but unwanted double exposure on the current frame...
All this double exposure business and sometimes counting a half-press to focus as a shot also meant that the digital only frame counter was completely off. I don't think I finished my roll but when I was too annoyed by all of this the counter was at 39 on a 36 exposures film.
Really sad about this. I wanted this to be good so badly. I love my old Rollei 35 and hoped for this to be similar but it's very different.
