Anyone know when the new MacBook Pro will be out?

Looks like CPU is fine but memory is possibly the issue here

November for M4 range.

That all looks fine. Memory will always be mostly used, by dynamic caching etc. You want this, it’s what makes the system snappy. Why would you want the memory you paid for just sitting there empty?

Re getting MS Word, can you get hooky keys for office programmes from g2a for mac?

Apple silicon all the way, getting an intel mac today is money in the sea.
Just buy the best you can afford, anything with apple silicon will be fine for your needs. I'm running an M1 base spec for design work (client owned, I have no choice) and it's perfectly fine even for that

I thought I was around the time, tempted to just buy an M2 as my Intel Mac is shagged

Got a 14” MBP M1 Pro I’ve never really used. Still mint. Can check battery and full spec if interested

4K monitor recommendations please.

Second hand LG 4k, or even better, the 5k. For what they cost 2nd hand I don't see much point in getting anything else. (unless you into gaming etc and want high refresh rates)

Duncs had a 4k one in classifieds recently

Thanks, I'll probably get this one from Curry's though and bill it through our company.
Also thanks @doubleodavey -

The screen protector I put in my phone started to come away in places- looked like the screen had mange. I used isopropyl and a stiff plastic card to scrape the remains off and in the process have scratched the fuck out of the screen. Oh the irony.
I’m sure I can polish it up again- my first thought was polywatch, what have people used successfully in this situation?

Ok, Polywatch works quite well

My iPad Air 4 has started to do this colour change on the progress bar, anyone else experience this?

thats just the bar colour gradient on YouTube everywhere now.

Thanks! It just started lately and looks more like a flaw than a feature.

Can you still buy an iPhone 13 mini or do you have to go to second hand for one?
What's the current sweet spot in terms of getting a new phone? To replace a 2020 SE so doesn't need to be the latest and greatest. Cheers

There’s one on the Apple refurbished site now. 512GB at £639.
-

Cheers, I had a look at the refurb site but you seem to be paying a premium on there as they're nearly all large storage ones which isn't really needed.

Just a heads up, with iOS 18 the 13 Mini is starting to slow, especially in yellow battery mode. Not often noticeable but now and then it gets janky, so I’d expect the performance to only get worse in the next 2-3 years.
Which is a damned shame as I love this model. Best iPhone I’ve ever had.
Thanks for this, very helpful. I'm thinking that the 15" Air would be ideal, but these are above €1,000 for M1 and M2 versions. Ideally I wouldn't go much higher than €1k, not sure if there are any configurations/versions to look for?
As I say, all these will be plenty powerful for my needs, though I'm swayed by the longevity argument if Apple silicon will likely outlast the Intel versions.
