• Haha! Dolly speaks that language, also “look that’s a rabbit/chicken/deer/leaf/log/cat” delete as appropriate.

  • Do dogs resp0nd to geosmin?

  • Pretty sure 90% of that 20kg is hind legs

  • I have no idea!
But there are fungi sprouting everywhere

  • Today I found out dogs are not allowed in the big laptop pond at Crystal Palace.
2 security guards came up "dog can't swim there mate" was essentially their message.
"the water is dirty and there's wildlife"
Meanwhile Bailey is chasing a stick on one side of the pond and not interacting with the ducks on the other side.

First they came for the crits, then the cross, now the dogs???

Where else can I fling my dog in water?

  • Damn, someone had better tell Crumpet. She loves pretending to be a duck in there. We sometimes take her to Cator Park just down the road. We usually pop over to the Waterlink Way for her to have a dip in the stream if it's hot. Not sure if that's any good to you?

  • I’m just going to take her early morning and not on Saturday.

That waterlink way stream is a bit “smell’s industrial “ after a heavy rain so I doubt I’d use it.

  • I used to "fish" for sticklebacks in castor park many moons ago.

  • The only fish in there these days are Mersey trout.

  • Owen is very patient with my nonsense. Autumn collection just dropped.

  • This asshole is hungry and bored all the time.

This was yesterday after feeding AND 1.5hours of playing. He gave up licking liver paste because it was too difficult, and eventually retired to his crate.

Yo-yo training is hit and miss. He doesn’t care if you go upstairs or leave him alone especially if already fed… but even well-fed and walked, he won’t let you leave the house and lock the door behind you.

    Stay in? Sleeps for hours.

Really need to work out what set of actions gets the right result.

Also, he’s still very bite-y when I leave him with the OH. She hasn’t learned to be a strong voice yet, but leaves the room until he calms down.

  • How old is he? All sounds like standard puppy life.

  • Trying to work and this little sauce is whining for my attention.

If I try to play, he isn't interested, if I pick him up, he jumps down.
    I love dogs.

  • standard puppy

He's apparently 3 years old. I think it's a lot due to poor boundaries where he's a rescue.

Probably he has never learnt what is acceptable behaviour.

We had a small brown gift left for us this morning, which is a first in nearly 3 weeks. A little surprised, but I guess he just couldn't hold it any longer.

  • nice little dog egg, if you can hatch it you get a puppy!

  • Really need to work out what set of actions gets the right result.

Have you tried waking up early and taking him for say a 5+ mile walk first thing?

It is a cliche and obviously not the only solution for every dog, but in my experience 'a tired dog is a good dog' works pretty well

  • Actually yes!

Because he's so damn skinny as a rescue, we're making sure his muscle mass returns before going for the insane-long walks.

I walk him for an hour or so once he has time to digest breakfast.

So far walking him for an hour, plus a run about near the squirrels, plus a play, and he'd not switch off.

Give him a big bowl of food, boom, sleepy boi.

  • I’d give reversing the routine a try.
    Play, walk, food.

  • Yes indeed. This is the way for lunch and dinner.

  • Does he like playing with other dogs? There's a little park near us where we take Crumpet to burn off some energy because there's always loads of other dogs for her to run around with at about 8am, lunch time and 5pm. She's always knackered afterwards. She's quite lazy so doesn't take much to wear her out though!
