Correct, plus that variety doesn't grow well in the UK

21 October is apple day. Here in the West Country it's pretty well celebrated, not sure where you're based but if you find an event this weekend you should be able to taste tonnes of locally grown apples. Pick the one you like best. Choosing a variety that will thrive in your climate is probably the first consideration, with taste the second? Otherwise you'll not get many apples anyway

If you can id these fallen apples then this tree grows well in out neighbour's East facing garden. Heavy clay. Often waterlogged in winter. Generally neglected.
Apples are excellent. Nice raw, but enough structure and slight tartness/acidity to cook well.
It's a bit sad but we have hardly scrumped any this year, whereas when the kids (eldest especially) was smaller we'd go out every morning for windfalls.

I should really take some cuttings in anticipation of learning to graft one day... as well as moving house.

I have a few tonnes of soil. What should I do with it? I don't really have anywhere in the garden to put it.
Any suggestions?

If you’ve got no idea what to do with it, why do you have it?
-
• #13769
Leave it where it is, in spring plonk some seed potatoes in, wait, make loads of chips.

Dig a sizeable enough hole to bury it in.

Where are you? I could do with a ton bag of topsoil, if you're close enough that the diesel costs less than the value of the topsoil I could shovel it into my truck. This supposes you just want rid of it!

Eat it. Beard Vs soil
Or
Top up those beds and spread some over the lawn? Freecycle it?
Make a hill into a mountain?

Some apples are not self fertile.
Not an issue if there are other apple trees nearby and enough pollinators.
