I run 38c paselas (which measure up around 35 iirc) in my 45s, which is a pretty close but good fit. I’d say if your current tyres don’t fit though, it’s still worth sizing down tyres slightly to run the pdws for a frame with that clearance, they’re great

Just about to pull the trigger on some PDW 45s... my tyres are 38mm, but measure 42.2mm on my rims... the bike has clearance for 47mm... I'm thinking the 45s are as big as I can fit to my bike... will the 45s work? Will I die? Will I be wasting my money?!?!
