Anybody know of any places selling cheapish over shorts for commuting purposes?
I have a few pairs that I have picked up over the years but they are all getting towards the end of their life.

I don’t know whether it’s the change in seasons, but I suddenly find myself asking questions like “do I need a hardtail?” and “maybe I should buy a hardtail?” and “should I buy myself a hardtail now?”

New Solaris is very tempting...

Full sus

I already have a full sus. I mean, I could get another full sus, but I find myself wondering if an XC hardtail would scratch that itch.
@Bearlegged this is exactly the sort of encouragement I need.

I can't make a case for hardtail.
But if I did make the case, then I would want a Stanton slackline.

You're up in the peaks right? I reckon if you bought a hardtail you'd kinda like it, but in a years time it would never leave the shed.
I was fully signed up to hardtail life...bought a modern trail bike and wouldn't be going back in a hurry.

And recommendations on mtb crankset that is relatively light, for 1x non boost chainline?
Praxis cadet rather than hope kind of $$. -

Don't Shimano do non-Boost?

"relatively light" compared to a Ford F150?

I haven't looked extensively but it seemed at first look all shimano was boost/52mm these days?
And yeah, the crank I pulled was over a kilo with chainring, including 24mm axle.

raceface affect with 24mm axle

I see you recently applied for the vacant position of 'devil on my shoulder'

Yeah, I'm Sheffield ways. I should probably just ride the bike that I already have. It's a great match for a lot of the riding around these ways, but sometimes it feels like overkill and I'm not sure how much I would want to ride more than 30 or so miles on it.
You're probably right tho, it would likely end up in the pile of bikes that need an annoying or expensive bit of maintainence done and go to languish because there are other more functioning bikes that can do the job too.

I'm leaning the other way.
I've got a hardtail for winter but really not enjoying it. I'm now looking for a cheap full sus frame to swap parts onto for the crap weather. -

Anyone got any fox stickers kicking about? Giving my two year olds first bike an orange respray and some fox 🦊 stickers would really finish it off

Went over the bars today :(
Luckily slow speed in a downhill switchback. Only grazed knees. I should ride with knee pads rly, it would have been inconsequential, but that's not the XC vibe :/

Cathro has you covered with yesterdays upload.

I've got a 140mm trail bike and am very happy. If I was to have two mountain bikes, I'd get a 160mm climbable enduro machine and a 120mm slack trail bike for big days out.

Anyone interested in a fairly lightly used pair of Assegais for £45? 29x2.5, Maxxgrip, DD casings. OEM ones so with the white Maxxis logos. At a guess they've done about 400km, so worn in but no cuts or torn knobs that I've noticed. Only selling because I've got far too many sets of tyres already

• #29049
Yeah. It was the inertia bit.Went through a downhill switchback. Got hung up on a rock I didn't clock because it was in a shady patch.

Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. Nice bike.
Tried out some Continental tyres today; Argotal front, Kryptotal Rear, both super soft DH. They're a bit good! It was wet but grippy up at Peaslake today, but the sniper roots were lethal from the damp ground. Argo just grips forever, and it took an off camber, 45⁰ root and front braking to finally make it wash out. Krypto has amazing braking, but you can get the back end sliding when you want to. Lots of fun.
