  • Blue cars with any sort of relation to rallying need gold wheels if going aftermarket.

  • Do they cost <£80 per wheel? If not, I'm still going refurb

  • Easy to say! I worry 😂😂

  • Not sure which is worse in that exchange.

  • 996 back from MOT and a few bits including valvetronic switchable sports exhaust (already had the exhaust just needed the vacuum/switching fitted) and BMC filter. Was on loud/sports only before which is fun most of the time but the quieter setting will be useful esp on the motorway.

  • Looking to short list some cars to go look at. 2 baby seats in the back, so the dog and double buggy in the boot. No chance in the current A4 estate. Has anyone been in a similar position?

My current train of thought is the Volvo XC 70 might work due to the boot being square or a VW touran type mpv or do I just need to get a T5.

  • What about a large estate instead of a little one?

    • A6
    • Passat
    • Superb
    • 5 series
    • e class
    • Etc.

Also how long are you going to keep it vs how long will you have a double buggy? We had two double buggies, the front-rear fit in the boot of our golf, the side-by-side didn't. So replacing the buggy is another option...

.... even though they're close to the price of a 2nd hand car, it'll still be cheaper than replacement of your A4.

  • where have you been for the last 20 years?

kids = i must buy an SUV.

  • Exactly, Q7 or bust

  • Lots of suvs actually have smaller boots than estates.

If you don’t want to change cars have you considered a roof box and /or a smaller double buggy?

  • I’m not sure you are meant to put children in roof boxes.

  • With two big dogs and a second kid on the way, I wish I'd bought a bigger car when we were expecting the first

  • where have you been for the last 20 years?

Puzzled, I had a Renault 5 Turbo until my daughter was 4ish. We managed France holidays in it. Same daughter now has a daughter, the pram is about 3x the size that we had. The cars seat is twice the size. She has so much more stuff then we ever had.

  • What you did was child cruelty, while my folks transporting us in a marina was beyond that kind of child hate.

  • Just go full dad and get a ford smax, ideal car.

Xc 70 would be nice call though.

Look at the smax boot, pornographic.

  • Our family holidays, I was one of three kids, were taken to in an A35 van. Albeit with windows and a bench seat built in.

  • Puzzled, I had a Renault 5 Turbo

    Excellent choice!

  • The flat seat arrangement in an XC90 (and other SUVs) is not kid seat friendly if you're using one of the bases with a leg. Front passenger seat has to be moved pretty far forward as to not touch the kid seat and set off the really annoying alarm. Beep...Beep...Beep.
Larger estates / saloons with their slightly reclined seat bases do a much better job with kid seats.
So the choice is really your back (SUV) or your knees (Car). Choose wisely.

  • Ditto, Dad had DIYd some windows into it.My cousin and myself on cushions in the back, no locks on doors, seatbelts not so much.

  • It's amazing I survived to adulthood.
There was the neighbour's VW Beetle, with 4 other kids, sometimes in the back seat, sometimes in the bit behind the back seat; a Commer van driven by my grandfather, usually with the sliding door open, with us sitting on laundry bags in the back, or sat on the bench seat, my dad's Mk1 Escort 3 door, my other grandad's Austin Allegro estate. No seatbelts for us kids in any of them.

  • We went from the A35 to Victor 101 estate (FNW556D), the favoured seat for my sister and cousins was in the estate part sat backwards facing out the rear window.

  • Puzzled, I had a Renault 5 Turbo

    Excellent choice!

It's still alive, albeit SORN E399DCX

  • Ford SMAX SLAX SLAPS (and Blazer for GC).

  • No one wearing seat belts either...kids today would not believe you
