Aduela was a nice drinking spot. Slightly shambolic service.

If you're going to Porto, you have to try a franceschina somwhere.
This place does one of the best https://www.tripadvisor.com.br/Restaurant_Review-g189180-d953422-Reviews-Restaurante_Bufete_Fase-Porto_Porto_District_Northern_Portugal.html

I keep looking at one and thinking if my stomach can really do it...hmm

I had franceschina in mornington crescent and in porto and was hard to tell the diff, I'd focus on fish and port /csb

Cheapish eats near Hackney Central? Will be an early dinner - 5.30ish. Open to all cuisines!
-
• #2158
My neighbours the dumplings is absolutely great, cheapish depending on budget but so worth it.

So I've left a birthday dinner booking very late for the 26th! Any ideas for somewhere that feels special but might actually have tables?
Can do central or otherwise within range of public transport from forest hill, not too precious about exactly where

Any recommendations between Brixton and Soho? There’s just so many options… we mainly like vegetarian, but open to other suggestions.

Babur!

• #2163
Too close / maybe not fancy enough? But it is good (and ages since we've eaten in)

• #2164
Ha - this is current school parent friends favourite

If Babur isn't fancy enough I may be out of my league here, but can thoroughly recommend the following around London Bridge:
Kolae - modern Thai, really tasty.
Oma - modern european, small plates obvs, very tasty and lovely room/service.
Hawksmoor - excellent steaks, often have good availability.Bit further:
Toklas - lovely modernist setting and really well put together menu and wine list.

This looks great. Have you been?
-
• #2167
Yeah that fits the bill!
-
• #2168
sadly no :(
-
• #2169
I have recommended it to lots of mates and never got anything other than glowing feedback.

Strange to have dumplings for neighbours.

Afterwards you could go to Biddle Bros. where you occasionally see really great bands that have their pre-gig meals at MNTD. :)

I’m thinking of going to the fat hippo in soho on Friday lunch time.
Is it any good?
Would I need to book? -

Wilson's in Ladywell is meant to be very good. Otherwise, Peckham way there's Peckham Bazaar, Kudu Grill and Levan which are all great.
-
• #2174
Lots of good shouts there - have been to some not all (not been to kudu yet), thanks

Does look good. I don't know if I can bring myself to make a special effort to go to Ladywell though.
Is there anything else in Ladywell worth combining as part of the same trip - decent pub or cocktail place?
Any more Porto suggestions before I going next week? Trying to find a tasting menu for both carnivore and vegetarian proving to be slightly meh
