Why are they a bad idea?
Because they look dreadful, fall out, may compromise the seal of the tyre on the rim and shout to the world “I have such low situational awareness that I’m a danger to others”.
Fair enough. They are for my daughter's rims as she seems to use kerbs to slow down. I suspect she won't want them if you say they 'look dreadful' 😀
