Please let me know how you get on with the VO EBB - I think I might try it before I have Starfish braze in an eccentric BB shell on my Intec.

I've been rocking a VO EBB for about a year now (fixed) it works as advertized.

What kind of conditions?
It would live on my winter/dad bike which will go out in the rain/sleet/sludge and not be cleaned regularly.

I figured I might want to swap the set screws for some socket or torx cap screws for better tool engagement.

exactly the kinda setup i have, New Englad coastal witer bike, The setscrews need regular applications of chain lube or they get a bit rusty is my only complait.

Interesting. I'm in the process of trying to set one of these up for a SSMTB, and have found that it doesn't have enough movement to take up the slack from 'flopping all over the place', or to loosen it from 'won't move'.

I'm probably doing it wrong...

Yeah, +-2,9mm could mean you have to find a different gear combo.
I'm thinking of sketching it out in CAD to verify my own setup.

@vthejk Thank you! Yes, flaps are good and working! Had some rain now to test them. Do you need some flap material? I'll be in the UK soon and could post a snippet.

Thanks @Eeyorecore for the bb input. I am wondering if I should go with a half link chain if I am going down that route. However, a half link chain is most likely heavier than some nice 9 or 10 speed chain.

The main issue is the brakes. Lightweight brake levers compressible housing and flex in the ti frame make for a really mushy feel.
Since then, I have replaced the housing with compressionless Jagwire housing but haven't gotten around to trying it yet. Already feels way better.
If this isn't enough of an improvement I also have these VO brake levers to try. A few grams heavier but seem way less flimsy

Gosh, 80g! Basically boat anchors.

The bike looks nice though, well proportioned. Does it feel as light as you were hoping?

Also, I've always been quite averse to having the chainring on the middle ring with nothing on the outer but it doesn't look bad at all!

Happily I’ve just cut some fresh ones but I’ll drop you a line! I could stick them on my Rockhopper. When are you in town?

The bike isn’t done. The aim is to go below 9kg but for now I just wanted to make it work so I can try it before dropping more cash on it.
I agree on the chainring. Only doing it for the chainline. I am using these tabs on the outside for a cleaner look.

@Browndonneur ah cheers! Pedals are definitely a big question mark still. I think in the end I want spds. There a bunch really light ones but from reviews they are all always only partly shimano spd compatible…

A quick update on another front. As mentioned upstream the inbred is getting new wheels with a dynamo hub. Jorrit/munrowheels finished them a few days ago and they are on their way. A sneak peek here.
This means the @Hulsroy Rinko AWOL now fully inherits the previous Arkane wheels.
That, plus a WI crankset, snatched on a sale, now finally makes it a full bike with no shared parts. While on it I also fiddled with the cockpit. The setback seatpost put my weight too far back while the very straight bars were hurting my wrists.
So no setback, more backsweep and longer stem.
All rounded up with a little rack as bag support. I had my first outing with this setup on Sunday and it’s fun and comfortable but very upright. So I might switch the bars for some with zero rise at some point in the future. For now I am off to Dresden to check out Bespoked ✌️

My partner has the get around and I’m very jealous. It’s super comfy and looks great.

I had some Ritchey WCS bars - I think they were Trail 10D? - that matched your specs. A pity as I sold it not one week ago. Very horizontal but with like 10-15 degrees backsweep.

Also check out SQLabs - they do 12 - 16deg backsweep bars with minimal (I think about 10-15mm?) - They're quite spenny new but do come up regularly now second hand for a price thats a bit more reasonable.

The Rinko looks soso good!
