  • Apparently we have to go to other planets to find somewhere to live. But we could never get to another solar system. It's an 80,000 year journey to the closest one. So unless we can travel faster than light or pop through a wormhole, neither of which will ever be possible, we're stuck in our own solar system. And none of the other planets has an atmosphere we could survive in or the right amount of gravity. The best we could hope for is to live in a spinning space station in orbit somewhere. And we could do that in Earth's atmosphere. So why are we trying to get to Mars?

Or we could just die, like any normal species. The idea that we are so special that we must survive is arrogant, conceited and hubristic.

  • Not sure anyone's claiming we're special enough that we must survive. We're just the only species we're aware of that's able to consider it
Considering it is just a function of being able to consider it

  • Being arrogant, conceited and hubristic - and having the the ambition for continual betterment as a result - is what sets man apart from the rest of the animal kingdom. It underpins our evolutionary success as a species.

For the record: Musk is a cunt (Teslas are shit) and this is all just wealthy posturing.
