  • I bought the titanium one recommended by that guy. Used a £20 voucher so paid £55 all in which is great! Leaves me some money for my diver purchase or modding my Seiko sea urchin (SNZF17)

  • Only strap and bezel.
    Rest is standard SKX009

  • Great job. I was about to post a photo of the titanium vs the youth size one I normally wear.

My titanium is missing the back so I used a random back off a different diver. Slightly thicker than standard.

£55, I’d be tempted to buy one again new.

  • G-Shock today

  • Really do forget it’s on the wrist, when it’s on a thin strap.

  • Wonderful. Well done! Glad it wasn’t a bad choice.

For the cost, I doubt you could find another Ti-cased watch that wears so well.

Certainly it’s no Hamilton, but it won’t cause the same tears as you give it a few scratches.

By the way the lume seems pretty decent too. I barely gave any light to mine yesterday, and it was sat by the dull DAB clock radio. I could see the hands any time I woke up in the night, and mine must be a few years old.

  • How many you got!?

  • Lolz, only the discount is new

    Please someone buy it

  • Shifting slabs earlier…

  • I am collecting a G-Shock 5610U from Argos later today. I know I am not great at setting up such things. In order to avoid annoying myself, can anyone recommend the easiest internet guide.

Also, I think I read on here about an aftermarket strap which is more comfortable/less sweaty, but can't find the conversation. Any help? thank you.

  • The manual that comes with it is all you need. Some people swear by the strap that comes with the 5000u but the strap on the 5610 is fine imo.

  • OK thanks on both counts

  • Just in case it helps - I've got the 5000u. The stock strap is a bit softer than a regular one but, whilst it's probably a bit comfier than the standard, it's not so much as to make wearing the watch an completely different experience. Here's a link: https://www.watchway.co.uk/product-page/g-shock-band-10323536
I've actually got a set of the straps that I'm not using (see below) which i can flip on for a charity donation or something if you'd like?

What did make a massive quality of life difference for me was putting it on the bracelet. But the bracelet is annoyingly expensive (and you've got to get different spring bars). Watchway do the bracelet and will sort you out with the bars, but you're looking at £70 or so, which would basically double the cost of your watch :(

  • When I got my 5610 I found this guy went through the set-up at a nice manageable speed.

  • I've seen a watch that I quite fancy that has a simple Peacock movement. An Sl1588 specifically. If I buy it I probably won't even own it long enough to require a service but if I do where can I get one of these serviced ? Any decent watch repair center as I guess it's probably a clone of something fairly common ?
EDIT: just seen they've just extended warranty on the watch from 2 to 5 years and customer service/warranty very good so worst case can send back if no UK service centers fancy it.

  • thank you and also rickster. I have the watch now. I think it is maybe a return as the box has been opened and it is set to BST+1, but that is fine and I have a head start. I will check out the set up link @rickster sent. As for the strap you mention, yes I would like to experiment and will and send you a pm. A friend is doing a MND charity walk this month, so I can either give her an extra few quid, or direct some £ to you or wherever you wish.

  • Classic look with leather strap.

(It's a Condor Italian leather strap btw, quite nice!)
