It would have been cool if they'd leaned more into the blue deore lx nostalgia look and followed it through to the mech.

10-pitch! That's how to get closer ratios! :P
Or, maybe just bigger rings and cogs, so top gear is 60x13. More efficient and durable. Perhaps more than half a chance it's on the cards, to drive a future upgrade cycle...

I say bring back tricolour with some fancy ano techniques.

Do we think these will work together?

If it was 11 speed I could be definitive, but 13 speed is devils work.
-
• #9208
Agreed. That Rotor cassette would have been made for Ekar which uses a narrower chain than the flattop SRAM one.
It would probably work but not well.
Stuff like this just reinforces my desire to stick with 11 speed and the lovely cross compatibility.

This is the budget version, SRAM cassette’s 600 euros!
Basically, what’s the best way to go 1x with 46t/11-46?
Other option’s 12 speed GRX but it seems less flexible than just swapping between a 46t and 40t front ring

• #9210
I'd consider the new Ekar groupset that's cheaper and the 10-48 cassette gives huge range
-
• #9211
Unlikely, need to wait for the trickle down to Force/Rival/Apex.
But if willing to spend EUR 586 on a derailleur, what's another EUR 500 on the cassette....

12 Speed AXS? You can mix and match a wide variety of stuff competitively priced now. Apex AXS 11-44 cassettes are like £99 now.

pls dont reveal trade secrets

I'd add that with GarbarUK cage on XT mech you can go all the way to 52t at the back, I have this one my gravel bike.
-
• #9216
Didn't rotor do some weird 13 speed thing with their hydro groupset that required special hubs?
-
• #9217
Garbaruk cage on a 11 speed GRX rear mech will happily shift a 50t cassette which is what I do on the gravel bike.
-
• #9218
Think the question was about 13 not 12 speed
-
• #9219
Forget both and focus on 11.
Shimano di2. -

This is appealing but seems more difficult to find in 1x

• #9221
52t in the back??
-
• #9222
yes sir
-
• #9223
No point on 11 unless you have it already. Same price than 12 AXS GX Eagle derailleur. Works perfectly, spares available everywhere

Unless you want a better looking, more reliable group set that doesn’t sound like a bag of spanners.
It's why 2x will remain a viable option for many and Shimano certainly don't look keen to drop the front mech anytime soon. They've really nailed it anyway, their front mechs work so well and can be installed so easily.
We'll probably see someone have another go at drop bar Boost spacing again sometime soon to get more room 🙄
