  • Don't ruin a great song with 'gravel' content.

    Slop Lobster?

  • New gravel obstacle found, slimy algae watery patches. Doesn’t mix well with slick tyres.

  • you've got a tiny hand inside your hand?

  • Yeah and it broke that little chunk on the other side off!

  • Oooft, heal up! Was it you that broke a collarbone as well recently or am I thinking of someone else?

  • Yeah, I broke mine start of last year. Shoulda done this stuff in my twenties not my forties!

  • I'm amazed that I can even get out of bed without breaking something

  • Oh mate! Be careful with that. #csb I had the same thing 30ish years ago. A week later I fell on it in a skate comp and property snapped it. Needed 3 ops, pins and it’s still fucked now. If I’d done what they said and rested…

  • Yeah, doing my best to rest it. I’ve also got intercostal bruising (ribs) so I’m quite happy sitting on my arse the now!

Have a check up next week as it’s a big ol’ chunk I’ve broken off it.

  • No one posts bike pictures anymore :(

  • Perfect

  • As lovely as the Ritchey fork is, if I can get my hands on a nice steel fork I will swap it out.

  • Chef kisses just an old school suspension fork away from perfect.

  • This is the way. Segmented preferably.

  • This bike is always in the back of my mind.

  • But then your hand could get dirty?

  • I dig the mix of silver stem/seatpost/wheels with black crankset/chainrings and saddle... The flat profile on straight blade forks really suit it. Really stands out from boring black frames with tan wall tires movement. Great build

  • I'm quite taken by this

  • Looks like a nice bike that's been wrapped by some 20 year old rich kid, ala

  • But all your muscles will hurt by that point so you won't notice!

  • My thumb ended up being not so simple, went to a follow up appointment on Thursday and they decided I'd done some ligament damage so had a reparatory op yesterday and I'm in this whopping stooky for the next fornight followed by another, hopelly less bulky one for a month or so and probably 3 months before I can really use the thumb.

This does mean I have plenty time to consider what to do with my lugged fixed/singlespeed gravel bike. I flip between wanting it to be a real fun wee fixed gravel skidder and a more comfortable/practical freewheeling bike, swept back bars, mudguards maybe dynamo lights etc.

It has room for 40 or 45mm tyres with guards, cant remember exactly what size tyres I have on there.

I have some nice Paul cantis I could take from another bike.

I've not been getting on with clipless pedals lately so if its fixed I'd want to run either clips and straps or like Restrap straps. If freewheel I'd just go for flats.

  • I feel you brotha, had a scaphoid fracture requiring surgery followed by 6 weeks in a cast.

In regards to the bike, wouldn't a flip/flop hub with brakes allow you to skid to your hearts content without losing the practicality of a freewheel when the occasion arises?

    Wishing you a speedy recovery

Yeah, but skidding would also require foot retention.

Probably easiest is fitting some pedals that can take hoizontal restraps or similar and then it's just flip the wheel and pop the straps on.

Time off the bikes is gonna suck but at least its during winter.

I might even chuck my Spa on a turbo and do some Zwift!

  • Stationary riding is not so bad especially with the addition of visuals... Wish Zwift was around when I was injured... Would have been able to maintain my fitness as well as avoid weight gain.. Rode a peloton bike while on a recent trip to get my pedaling dose and help control extra vacation calorie intake LoL
