  • I did think that’s what I had ordered, but got the first one.

Oh I hadn’t realised there’s been a second iteration released?
I’ve not really been keeping up to date with their stuff after I seen how much money they want for the trinity frame.

Also agree that the stfu thing definitely isn’t the same thing as a top guide

  • Yeah, original Centre Hub can spin forwards whilst the cranks remain still, but rotate the wheel backwards and it will pull on the chain- it’s moving the free hub from the rear wheel to the crank basically.

The new one can spin freely in both directions- which would prevent any pull from the suspension on the crank and any (non pedalling) tension on the cassette from the crank.

  • He did respond to one email a long time ago and then nothing.

Didnt respond to DM's even thought he viewed them and then on the post for the said thing they were selling didnt respond to one comment.

If people cant deal with you before you've purchased how will they act when they have your money. Just fuckin annoyed me and ive avoided them since.

  • In his defence he is a one man band using University facilities for a small/startup business. I think his major revenue stream is the mullet link side of things.

But I agree that the communication needs to get better - it would make Mic more sales and give his customers much more confidence.

  • Just had a look at Ochain and they don't do their latest gadget (Ochain-R) in SRAM 3 bolt and have no plans to ever do so. So! WRP the only game in this particular town.

  • Although their customer service person is contradicting their own website, which has just changed to show the R available from the 30th of May. I don't know what to believe anymore.

  • Ok, Cane Creek rotates the 3 bolts, so the triangle (as it were) points in the opposite direction with reference to the spider. I asked whether this was a "this won't work" or an "we don't recommend this" and it's the latter.

  • I totally get that, but if you cant deal with the communication even get someone part time to help.

As you said it doesnt give good confidence off the bat when you cant do something as simple as that and just allows someone else say another brand to do something similar with better CS.

  • I agree. IIRC he’s part of a university, or maybe part of their startup nursery/similar- if they provided some limited admin/comms it would be a big boost for WRP in terms of professionalism (if at current production/profitability WRP can’t afford this).

I suspect the heart of this v1 Centre Hub is an off the shelf one way bearing/sprag clutch, I’ve been wondering today/chatting with a friend about whether the Zero (two way bearing with torque sending clutch on the inner race) is also commercially available and if I could locate one then I could purchase and swap it.

It probably ~2mm larger in diameter or something equally annoying though I expect.

  • Apparently the lock out for the hub ratchet is the older design- not EXP. Zip-ties ahoy!

Anyone know of a method to lock out an EXP?

  • Got the bike back, MRP chain guide on, all works. Success!

  • Yes!!
I was confused by the photo attached the Scorchio post above, looked like the bolts fouled it.

So centrehub is on and working as it should with the caveat that you’ve had to use zip ties to lock out the freehub?
Did you get the MRP backplate machined down?
I know nothing about the exp versions but zip ties would annoy me knowing that there’s a more proper way to do it.

Rebuild the wheel with an older dt hub…

So when can you next properly test the DH bike? Anywhere in SG or is a case of waiting until you’re next in NZ or the alps?

  • id on that worktop tookbox? Looks nifty having a way to clamp things down sans vice

  • See the photographs- we moved a spacer from the NDS to the DS, which incidentally made a mockery of the standard/boost/superboost spacers as we then corrected the chain line by eye.

I’d love to take this to the Alps in June, but without a job I have to use my 996, and I think a single bike is realistically the limit there, and if I can only take one bike it’s got to be the Enduro bike/Madonna.

I’ll hopefully take the DH bike to Japan later in the summer.

  • Yes- it’s very handy, I have two different types of clamp I can use but otherwise it’s just a lid for my toolbox.

  • With reference to Total Shanners observations- no chain guide:

  • I've been having intrusive thoughts again, contemplating a new dh bike. I've been offered a set of DH38 forks for a decent price.

Have you had much time on the Yalla this summer? Whats your thoughts on the reliability of the Ohlins shocks and forks? Did they seem to need servicing prematurely on the Madonna?
Have you noticed any issues with the DH38?
