Yeah I've stripped frame, left out in sun and drained then respray some more ACF-50 inside so fingers crossed...time will tell I guess.

Tempted to get 26" wheels and these 2.8" width tyres for my 26" inbred.
Should be possible clearance wise I think, did anyone try??

Are you sure? 2.8" is quite big. My 29er inbred only clears 2.25 in the rear.
EDIT: I got curious and utilised the way back machine. I am not sure if this is the exact frame you have. This is about the 2005 geared 26" inbred:
For that reason, it has HUGE tyre clearance. We've fitted up to 2.7in tyres with clearance. That's good.

Thanks for posting that link! I’ve picked up a 26er frame to build up for my wife, and this helps massively.
-
• #258
Thanks! Appreciate your effort to find that.
I currently have 27.5 wheels in there with 1.9" tyres, still a lot of clearance on the chainstays... 2.8" might be pushing it though... I wish there were more 26 inch tyre options!

How will you build it up? Any pictures?

Frame only, so far. It’s scruffy, but straight - I think I’m going to strip it and respray it. Rigid fork of some description.

Awesome! 26" makes so much sense on these smaller frames. Is this a size small? Doesn't really look like it needs new paint.
-
• #262
Yeah, it’s Small. It looks alright in the photo, but there’s a lot of chipping and scuffs. Gonna make it nice for her. Also, I don’t think she’d be mad keen on a bike with the word “inbred” on it.
That Stridsland you posted above looks great, I think a set of Surly Sunrise bars might be on the cards.

I just measured and there is about 90mm between the seat stays so i should've about 10mm clearance on each side with those 2.8" tyres 🤔

This is my Inbred Slot Dropout. Always wanted one, swapped parts from an mtb I had to this frame wondering whether I should have waited for a small to come along. It's now for sale (with a couple of bits changed) but seeing some of the builds on here, not sure whether this should replace my town bike (90's GT Tequesta) with a set of rigid forks thrown on it.
I'm ok with the standover on this but its always felt a bit long. Will I make this more comfortable/usable with a swept back bar or am I just kidding myself and do I actually need a smaller bike?

will I make this more comfortable/usable with a swept back bar
It depends. How much too long is it?
Also remember that lots of swept back bars have an initial forward sweep e.g. OG
so you need something with the right net(?) sweep.Maybe just grab a cheap set of North Road bars and try it out as a temp set up lower cost of entry than bling bars and new forks.

As someone with no real knowledge of bike fit past "can I get my short legs over it comfortably" rather than "its way too long" its more " oh I'm not used to this kind of racer-esque stretch and bent back" kinda thing. I have a set of the On One forks already which would fit. My first cursory glance at bars was at something like Ritchey Keyotes or a BLB Sunday Bar.
Truth be told, I could do with getting rid of a a bike or two to get some space back, both mentally and in my garage. But I do love the look of the frame and the utilitarian nature nature of them.

There is a bike fit thread somewhere. Maybe post a side pic of you on the bike in one of those for comment.

Nice bike, maybe you have to get used to the racey position?
Bars that put you more upright will also affect the handling... The stem looks already quite short. -
• #269
I’ve got most of the parts together for this now.
The fork is a Surly ECR and the axle to crown is 447mm. While the geometry looks alright to me, I’ve never built an MTB before. Is it ok?

i mean who knows from a photo but by the looks of things that seems good, like the care you have gone to mock up with cardboard for the lower cup

Cheers, I think it’ll do.
Off to the powdercoater next.

I have a 445a-c fork in my 26" and it works really well.
This is looking good already! What are those tyres and which color is it gonna be? -
• #273
They’re DMR Moto DJ, they seem like they should be pretty decent for streets, dirt tracks, gravel etc.
My daughter picked out Turkish Blue for the colour, but that might change when I get to the powdercoaters and look at some samples.

Nice!
Careful with that. Mine developed cracks on both chains stays in the crimped area. It was fully rotten from the inside and I´ve never done such a thing. Got it repaired and it´s still going.
