• 696 is better looking than this :'(

  • The stem or the bike?

  • the bike .. but if you like the look of it DO IT

  • Wing replied: "unfortunately we don't have such a fork"

    Found this on the interweb:
    https://custom-junkies.com/carbon-road-bike-fork-1-ahead-aluminium-shaft-300mm-590g

    pricey though

  • Just get a Columbus Minimal and enjoy the peace of mind

  • Any recommendations for a rigid 29" boost carbon fork ?
I'm finding a few but low number of orders and not many reviews

  • i have one that i bought from aliexpress and didnt end up using, still boxed

  • Has anyone used the fake TRP levers?

    https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006387898666.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2vnm

They seem cheap enough to take a punt. But equally if the hoods on these things are uncomfortable then the faff of installation, realising their shit, replacing, etc. doesn't seem as appealing.

  • I use the genuine trp levers but have looked at these. What ever the quality one of the issues for me was no quick release button like on genuine. Depends if you need one or not though I guess ….

  • Cheers. For mini-vs, so would be handy.

  • I have. Fitted them on my lock-up bike but haven't really ridden it since so can't say much about them. They don't have the little plastic inserts to make them fit compact drops better, and sadly no quick release button. I have a pair of trps on another bike and the fit is similar but the finish is not as nice on the knockoffs.

  • Thanks - just the info I needed.

  • Guy on a group ride this weekend gifted me an old threaded carbon fork!
Clearance is a bit less than I wanted, but al least I can use a quill which will be nicer for the bike.

  • Dunno if I’ve understood but do you have a code if I ordered a wheel by myself?

  • Does anyone have any experience of counterfeit tyres?

I’ve had a gp5000str on the front of my road bike for a couple of months that I suspect is fake. There is a ridge down the centre of the tyre, I presume from the mould?, which hasn’t worn away. Most gp5ks either don’t have this or it wears away very quickly. Also on a rainy ride recently, the grip felt much less than I am used to, having done a lot of miles on this model of tyre.

Yesterday I searched Alix and noticed that Conti tyres are on there, which was a shock.

Are the Conti tyres on there real? Are fake tyres working their way into other markets? I bought these tyres new off on eBay seller.

  • @snoops yep, i had an experience where i bought some gp5k off someone on ebay and noticed (of course only after money had exchanged hands) very quickly that there was something very off about them. the bead ended up being a total shitshow and it slipped off my front tyre mid ride. believe it or not i bumped into this person again selling stuff on this forum.

  • Well, luckily mine haven’t had any failure like that, but the compound feels different when I’m riding and the fact this centre mould line isn’t wearing is suspect. Set-up and general tubeless performance has been fine. Hope you didn’t sustain any injuries.

Is there any way to confirm if they are genuine? Any mark or code that I can reference?

  • hard to explain but in my experience the gp5k is a pretty rigid tyre, all around it just feels quite sturdy and bulletproof. The knockoff felt far softer and even the wire bead didn't feel as strong as the original. sorry, it's not really a great explanation but i think the point is if you've tried some gp5k before, and these not feel quite right then they're probably not real.

  • Same conclusion. Thanks for your experience.

  • Haven't touched the app for a year or more but it's been shredding my battery in the background, nice.
