In other news this makes a banging espresso.
Just waiting on a 20hour cold brew for the morning.

As if I’m reading the label in that much detail. Get it in the grinder

Just wondering what everyone else is getting charged for postage from Yellow Bourbon? When I’ve tried to order a couple of bags of coffee (>2kg total) the website tries to charge me £12 for postage which is nearly double the online Royal Mail price for what I understand is the service used. Both Steve and the team at the roastery said this price is an error, but not yet sorted on the website. Just trying to work out if this is an issue unique to me, or if others have faced it.

i haven't had that. i usually order 1kg or less.
edit - for postage, i've paid £3.40 for up to 1kg and £5.50 for between 1-2kg.

Don't suppose you're using a VPN and it thinks you're in a different country or something?

now drinking these beans (pictured upthread). a bit darker than i normally drink, actually a nicely balanced cup. reasonable value, unlikely to be worth seeking out other than if you are buying tea (for which I highly recommend this site) and need something to top up your basket.

Anyone with experience of the DF54 and DF64 able to confirm the latter is definitely worth the 100 quid difference?

I ordered 2x1kg bags for me and a friend, thinking it might save some post, but it was 2x£6= £12. Nice packaging and coffee.

oh - that's odd.
i've just put 2x1kg in my cart and gone to check out (as an experiment) and it's showing £5.50 postage for 2kg of beans.

I just double checked - £12 post. 2 x 1kg house espresso, same shipment and address. Not complaining, just for info.

Ah ok - seems like @Stevethecoffee might need to have a look into this.
Edit - maybe drop them an email, Steve and co have always been super responsive when I've needed to get in touch with them.

I’ll get one of the computer-literate ones on it on Monday. If you’re not getting £5.50 postage on under 2kg and your computer isn’t telling us you’re in Madagascar then email us pls.

My answer is "it depends". I've been looking into them both as I was looking to go electric. I saw a while ago a real nerdy video analysing grind size/fines and extraction of a 54 vs 64 and the results were identical, so it seems it all comes down to the specifics of each...
64 is about 10 seconds faster, at least for espresso, and allows you to swap burrs and tinker if you so wish. The noise is said to be higher pitch than the 54 but will run for less time I guess.
54 is smaller, cheaper, takes 10 seconds longer and doesn't allow you to swap burrs.Because counter space is a bit of a premium for me, I don't fancy tinkering with burrs and am not in a rush to save 10 seconds, the 54 made the most sense for me. It's not very noisy either no louder than my Classic during extraction (I've ground with my 4 months old asleep in a carrier), while I heard people complain the 64 is very loud, though that's anecdotal/from the interweb. Hope this helps!

we get tea from them, breakfast, builders, assam and also their chai blend is good too

I buy various black teas from them and make a blend - I'll send you some if you'd like to try it. It's my idea of what English breakfast should be.

That's extremely helpful and I'd hoped someone else had done the legwork, so thanks.

That’d be fantastic.

Anyone suggest good quality filters for a flat bottomed batch brewer? One of the baristas at Dark Arts suggested Kalita Waves in the larger size but I don't think they realised they're no way big enough.
Most of the filters listed online are advertised as "catering quality" which doesn't fill me with confidence.
Unrelated, anyone want 100 Kalita Wave filters in the 185 size?

What size? Bunn ICB should do it?

Before I bin it does anyone have any use for a Mahlkonig Vario that currently doesn't grind? I'm not entirely sure what the issue is but I'm guessing something to do with the burrs. Free to anyone that can collect (Dalston E8)

Anyone on here in Germany, or anywhere in EU that could help me in purchasing a couple of small spare parts for a machine from a German supplier? It's literally half the price than the UK and of course they won't consider selling/shipping to the UK!
Even better if you're coming to the UK anytime soon and could post within the UK rather than posting from overseas.Happy to reimburse in coffee of your choice!

I189D burrs available at Mazzer if people did what I did and ordered with the other burrs but wanted both sets.
Thanks, sadly I’ll likely forget most of this good information and sink back into my ignorant bliss, still doesn’t explain my dislike of the organics I’ve tried though.
